I believe he is referring to the ones right and left of the Lonicera.

Bidens sp. was my first thought but I am doubtful.

Well I had no idea L.j. could have leaves like that! The good news is that I learned something new today. Clearly not a plant I am familiar with.

Shoots with jagged leaves look like snowberry (Symphoricarpos) to me. Of course, if any of same plant is twining somewhere there then it would be the climber (Lonicera japonica).

It looks Iike Lonicera, but I'm curious why it's not more vine- like. Could it have been mowed maybe? The stem looks like it's from last year, like partially woody?

Looks like a newly emerging vine to me. It’s early in the year and if It was hacked back last year that’s what it would look like. In the flesh one could tell by texture.

Thanks, wow...I never would've guessed Japanese Honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica), but I'm sure that's what it is...as it is very invasive around here!

While I've never seen Snowberry here...

Only Coralberry occurs in north central Texas, and afaik Coralberry never has lobed leaves. Usually albus has lobed leaves. and I have no clue about the western Symphoricarpos species. Orbiculatus is very common here in my area, and I grow a few, and I've never seen lobed leaves on them, just wavy leaves.

^ OK, actually there is definitely Coralberry (Symphoricarpos orbiculatus) here, too...which is a Snowberry (Symphoricarpos), then. I didn't realize that Snowberry referred to the entire genus!

Where I was coming from was that common snowberry as I have seen it in the western North American part of its range is polymorphic - and many times with shoots just like the low ones with lobed leaves shown and asked about in the original post here.

It does look pretty close to whats here. I take back my comment about that. Do you still think it might be a Sympho?

If there truly is no snowberry possible in the geographic location of the mystery plant then I'm certainly not going to insist that it must be a snowberry.
