Is there a way to line up sketch with photo so window, etc is in same place? And can you take a wider angle picture or show what’s on other side of that island/wood table? How exciting to redo your kitchen!

I’m comment so I can find this later when I have a chance to sketch. In terms of layout, I might make a suggestion you and others might not like (namely because commenters seem to like symmetry). I would put the range or cook top towards the mud room door, place the sink centered on the right window (so off center of the two windows), switch the fridge for a 36” wide unit and add a pantry cabinet in front of the chimney. Where you have the microwave, I would turn that into the breakfast bar. All in all, it would really only require a new gas line or a high voltage/amp line to the new stove location, but would make better usage of your counter space and let multiple people work in the kitchen at the same time.

The layout I propose would increase conflicts between the rain cooking and people entering/exiting the mud room. However, you could partially fix that issue by reversing the swing of the door (assuming that works with the mud room) so it opens into the mud room instead of the kitchen.

I know this is a radical approach because it calls for the complete removal of the chimney and closing off the studio from the kitchen. Yet if you are willing to go this route, you will have a highly practical modern kitchen space.
