I'd start with the windows. I'd replace the drapes with woven wood roman shades, which would give you some texture, or if you want to stick with drapes, choose a solid linen color (doesn't have to be linen fabric) or the same or deeper shade of your blue walls, if you can find it. Look for a linen colored comforter with a textured fabric, or layer the bed with deep tones of your wall color, like in this example below. Then put one or two pieces of art above your dresser - something that you love to look at. I don't think you need a rug.

Can you get a shade for the overhead fixture that matches your floor/table lamps? I think the biggest improvement you could make would be removal of the rustic barn door. It doesn't work with the more contemporary style of your bedroom set. You could lean into beach or scandi with that furniture. I agree with textured woven shades. Then art over the bed and dresser plus a rug under the bed would be my advice. A rattan rug would work for either style, but you might prefer something softer.

I like what you have going on ... but now I would lean onto the blue wall color. Various tones from dark to light of that color, in pillows for sure. Stand the pillows up, like pic other person posted. Then I would find a fabulous rug. I love the idea of maybe a plush shag to add warmth. It could be a solid creamy/tan color or a mix of that with blues, or a solid blue, it would just be what speaks to you. Then I would get rid of the floor lamp and re-lace the night stand lamp to a deep dark tone of your wall color ( deep blue green - if that’s the color- judging your colors by my computer screen 😉) with a tan shade.
Add a cool looking mirror over your dresser and accent your table tops with candles. I’m not crazy about the wreath on the barn door, I’d let that just be the cool looking door it is without detracting. And ... I would remove the picture between the windows (if you feel like something should be there, then maybe try the wreath. Most of all .... have fun!!!!!

I have this print in my coastal styled bedroom and I love it. We just did the decorative pillows in it with a white duvet cover, but since you don't want white this might work for you for the duvet cover (although I think white with this accent would look fantastic in your room as well). Everyone, thank you for all of the amazing ideas! We recently changed the furniture and I agree, the barn door needs to go and the wreath, and the picture between the windows. My husband and I said the same thing when we saw it in the photo, lol. Love the idea of woven shades, the bedding (both I love) and I agree with all the other suggestions. And especially, I had not even realized that the ceiling light shade was a different color than the other lampshades! I knew the Houzz community wouldn’t come through!

Of course that should say “would” come through 😬

suggest you get rods that are over 1 inch in diameter and hang them right up next to the bottom of the crown molding, then hang longer curtains, 96", and hem them to almost skim the floor with weighted hems. Consider ORB curtain rods over 1 inch in diameter.
With the rustic closet door, you might also consider a nightstand that relates to the closet door in texture, wood look, color....the closet is looking like the odd man out. A large round say 36" diameter black framed mirror over the dresser is on trend right now and available in many price points.

A couple of inspiration pics.... I think you could go for either the previously suggested roman shade in a darker, jewel blue or fuller drapes in same, and have bedding in a linen color. The barn door style looks like it works for the space saving element but the natural wood isn't sitting well with the other woods in the room, so a thought could be go with with there, same as is your trim. The dark mirror is a different wood tone, so again would suggest white paint.

Oh, and the dark frame between the windows, the picture would still go well in the room but again a lighter frame.. either white or same tone as the dresser wood with white or linen color framing card!

This is what it used to look like before the hubs decided we needed a change. Still not ideal and I wasn’t in love with it but I liked it much more than what is happening in there now. It’s funny everyone is suggesting darker lamp bases. That’s what I had originally 🤷🏼‍♀️. And either way, that picture in between the drapes must go from that spot. I’m not sure what we were thinking?! The “style” of this room fits much better with the rest of our house, the more modern/Scandinavian furniture does not.

I like your current lamps, and the new lower dresser opens up the space.

I'm thinking the bedding you had originally looked rather good and would go well with the new style of furniture. i like the lighter color inthe lamps, so really i think it's just the drapes, window dressing that needs a tweak and bringing the differing wood types into co-ordinancation

I also like the new furniture, as it opens up to room a bit and lightens it up, ie feels less heavy. is the issue that you are bit more farmhouse and hubby is a bit more modern? if thats the case I think you.should just combine the two. keep the new furniture which is more modern, the sliding door and even the curtains have a more farmhouse feel for you. maybe a more farmhouse feeling duvet and art?

how about all white bedding but different textures... a white quilt with a pattern and white linen duvet and shams for the bed and then a simple accent pillow? something like this?

I like your room. If you want a change, maybe change the drapes. Use these colors in the room with your paint color and add pillows in pattern or solid colors of all the colors.

Add artwork with similar colors along with some warm tones which you can also add new colors in pillows.

Not sure I caught your reaction to earlier comment someone made about the barn door, but if it would help, you could use a more sleek style. I love the use of art here!
