My experience...Your palm would appreciate as much sun as possible. I grow mine under a west facing skylight. It gets afternoon sun/bright light all year. I've had it for over three years. For spider mites....every other day, I cover my furniture and spray my palms with a water bottle.The spider mites don't like that. I also have a humidifier by the palms and aquarium. These palms love humid air and warmth.My thermostat is set at 77F because I like warmth too! I feed with Foliage Pro liquid food and aquarium water. I water once a week and never let it sit in water. They seem to be thriving.

I repotted it last summer and it is now producing strong new leaves that don't show any brown edges like the older leaves grown in Florida. I feel like the palms have adapted to my indoor environment.

I enjoy my palms especially in the winter... they create 'instant relaxation' every time look at them! A great stress reliever during this pandemic.

Yours looks pretty good for being indoors! That's a lot of work.. but you love em so you do what needs to be done right :) and you keep it inside year round. Imo no palms are good as house pants they need proper light to get good looking leaf structure along with Bananas and bird of paradise. I get not everyone has somewhere outside. You're making it work for you congrats! Thanks for sharing.

That's not true. You just have to know WHICH palms WILL work for your conditions. No, a "Majesty Palm" will likely not work. But after decades specializing in the cultivation of palms, I can highly recommend the following for a fully indoor life:

Rhapis (excelsa, is the most widely available species, but others work too)

Howea (Kentia palms)

Chamaedorea (multiple species)

Hyophorbe (both Spindle and Bottle palms) are surprisingly easy.

Caryota (Fishtail Palms)

I even have a species of Pritchardia is easy indoors.

YES, they can be initially costly and can be difficult to obtain depending on your location..., but I have gotten many of my plants mail order. My local, big box stores USED TO BE terrific for exotic palms, now it's the same miserable selection as you see all over (outside of South Florida), Majesty Palms destined to die.

P.S., Sorry to report, I have not had much success with Adonidia indoors (even when summered outside). I think I have given up on this species but know I will succumb to temptation if I see one under 8 feet for sale, LOL. Good luck!

I agree with lady palms(Rhapis) and Kentia palms being great indoors. I find Adonidia easy if given sun, humidity and proper nutrients. Much easier than those ridiculous Majesty palms!

Here is a pic of my smaller Adonidia trio which I find easy to care for: All the leaves were grown indoors and have very little browning.

It grows in my plant room surrounded by other plants, which increase the humidity. I feel that one must have a south/west window and/or skylight to be successful with adonidias! Weak light will kill them.They like warmth...luckily, I do too!

I take it outside in the summer( only because I can still carry it), placing it in shade first, then eventually in the full sun. It doesn't scorch in intense summer sun! I think it's pretty tough. I've had it for over 10 years! I ordered it online as a much smaller plant. It is very potbound( it doesn't seem to mind) and will be repotted this summer.
