Here is the website for Sharp microwaves. There is no mention of a "pullout" oven.

This is a user friendly version of the lawsuit. It essentially extends the warranty for five years if you have an "arcing" incident.

Sharp Lawsuit

This would pertain to all drawers installed since 2009 and since the wave technology is relatively recent, it would include all models of the drawer.

I have a microwave drawer installed since 2018 and I love it. There have been incidents of any kind and it has performed perfectly since installation. All microwave drawers are built by Sharp even if they are branded with a different company.

I had considered the Wave but then decided it was just a bit too gimmicky. Mine is the model that tilts up which is perfectly adequate for my needs. I can press one button in lieu of waving my hands when I want it to open.

We have a sharp microwave drawe, installed about 2018. We have had no issue with it.

@Helen, just confirming - so all the Wolf and Bosch microwave drawers are actually Sharp? How did you find that out - that's great to know! i was on the Lowe's site and the sharp reviews are awful but the Bosch ones are pretty good. Now I wonder if i'm still better off going with Sharp. Is there a specific model you'd recommend? thanks!

All drawer microwave ovens are manufactured by Sharp. Sharp is an OEM for other manufacturers; it modifies the appearance for the others who market it under their own names and jack up the price. The easiest way to tell that they're all the same is to look at photos of the appliances with the oven doors open. If I were to buy one of these, I'd only consider a model whose control panel flipped open to be viewed from above (SMD2470ASY or SMD3070ASY). Otherwise the control panel is perpendicular to the floor which doesn't seem like it would be very easy to see.

As @wdccruise posted, all the microwave drawers are manufactured by Sharp and so you are paying a premium for the nameplate of the other brands.

I agree that the flip up control panel is absolutely necessary or else it defeats the ergonomic reasons for getting a drawer.

There is also a wave version which opens the drawer when you wave you hand in front of it but I thought that was a bit gimmicky and didn't serve any particular function since you still have to access the panel to set time and strength

I haven't had any issues with my drawer. I believe there was a recent lawsuit that was settled which extends the warranty on drawers purchased within a certain time frame. I don't regret purchasing the Sharp drawer - there really is nothing that solves the specific issue of where to place a microwave if you don't want it on the counter or over your head.

I've got a sharp microwave drawer as well, flip top controls are great can't imagine going w/o them, 3 years and no issues so get the Sharpe brand if you are doing a drawer! Nothing special about the microwave though, it's all about space considerations. Like I said.

We have a sharp without the flip panel. I can’t remember now why we went that way, floor model maybe? Anywho, I thought I would miss it but I don’t at all. While I am sure it is nice, I have never once thought “wow this would be so much better if I had gotten the flip panel one”. not saying don’t get the flip panel, but it is not disastrous if you end up without it.

This is so helpful. Looking to purchase a microwave drawer as well and was too concerned with the negative comments. But this advice was much needed. I will buy the Sharp microwave drawer (247) model.
