Tight space around appliances

Hello ..

So we put the appliances into their dedicated space in the new

laundry room.. see picture.

The cabinets space is right, but the counter people have an overhang which is slightly bigger than it should be. The result is we have an inch between the wall and the laundry machine (on the left). But then just enough space to slip a piece of cardboard between the laundry/dryer and the dryer and counter.

So looking for opinions on how serious this. We aren't expecting that machines to bounce around but they will inevitably vibrate. Is there an option here that doesn't involve cutting the counter. The counter people are willing to shave it down, but they warned we'd need to seal everything because of the silca dust going everywhere which is filling us with dread.

So what to do .. accept we have to cut the counter trimmed (if so how much is enough?) or is there some material we can slip between the surfaces?

Pookie - I have cabinets and counters flanking both sides of my RO and it's pretty much flush with maybe 1/8 or less on my machines. Granted this is on the lower level on concrete floor/tile so it's very solid and zero movement. My tops are caesarstone. No issues with vibration and I prefer to be flush than with a gap.

Silica dust??? Have them pick it up, take it BACK to the shop, and bring it BACK to re install. . Where is the template ? Did they cut and polish before a template? It's a new build? Take it away and re do. Shave...........yeah. In the SHOP. It's more than a "shave" to be corrected. "Slightly" my A _ _ .

Going to be back splash tile issues when they do it . A builder rush is what I see.Make them redo that too.

Or live with it and slide to the left. ..........using the inch avail able. I see you have to BASE trim yet installed

It's a new build. They measured then cut/polished at the shop.

We are reluctant get them to remove.. it's all installed and tiled. We did have basetrim but i removed it to get the inch on the left.

The main question is .. should we expect an impact sound/vibration .. if so .. what can we do about it. Is there something available we can use to reduce. We are home owners .. building ourselves.. we measure/re-measured but missed checking the counter when it was installed in the rush..

Googling this websites are saying an inch between machines, but we don't have that luxury.

From the dryer installation manual:

"[Dryer c]an be built in alone or with matching Electrolux Washer (side by side or stacked) in closet, recess or under counter installation with 0" minimum clearance required around sides and back of unit(s)."

Wow I should have checked this .. you're right.

We just searched online and the general response was 1" so went with that.

Should we consider something though, rubber mats beween the machines or the wall?

I wouldn't do anything unless I ran the machines a few times and found a problem.

" they measured" that's the problem. They did NOT template. No way did they template Those are two different things, measure and LASER template.

You wart to sign off on builder error/cheat the time curve stuff ? Live with no base skirt? Your builder KNOWS he goofed. It is on him. I would demand the re do. Tile included.

Get out of Houzz and get with the foreman o your build. First thing in the am.

Tell . Him. TO. Fix. it.

When they take it BACK to the shop........they template the nano second they lift it off for the ride back to that shop.
