Does anyone have any successful strategies for protect Eastern Phoebe nests from predators like bluejays? There's an old thread that suggested building a hardware cloth cage around the nest with 1.5" holes for access, I'm wondering though if they might abandon the nest if they show up and it's got a cage around it. We had two broods from last year completely wiped out by bluejays, they've been building the nest near a security light fixture on the eave at our deck.
