Help update shutter color

Sprucing up the front of the house, and thinking about the shutters. They’ve gotten chalky with age, if I’m taking them down to clean, I’m debating replacing or painting them. Not in love with the maroon, but I don’t hate it. It’s feeling dated though. If I was to replace/repaint, what color would work better? Just go black?

The front and side doors are the same color as the shutters. These are the only shutters on the house.

Charming house! Honestly, any color would look fine. Are you planning to paint the doors to match whatever color you choose?

You could do a brighter color to liven things up ... black is always a classic, of course ... a very dark gray/brown like Urbane Bronze (popular color lately) ... staying maroon, but maybe a different shade ... endless possibilities. If you haven’t already, do a search for shutter colors and ideas, it might provide inspiration.

Another thought — wonder how it would look just leaving the shutters off? I like shutters, just curious.
