Marvin Ultimate Narrow Frame

Are there disadvantages to getting these instead of the regular Ultimate windows? We will be getting all casements. House is fairly contemporary and some windows are large. Full frame replacements.
This is not the same as the Ultimate Modern line that I know is quite a bit more expensive.

Do you have quotes between the two versions for the same window? What's the difference? Wood frame vs fiberglass newly engineered for slim frames. I'd lean towards the fiberglass. I see Modern Signature line. No Ultimate Modern.

Its there Dan and I had not heard of it before either. Interesting looking unit.

OP here. I don't have quotes yet. From the literature it mentions that the exteriors are flush and they are therefore more contemporary looking than the more traditional Ultimate. They still have clad exteriors and wood interiors like the Ultimate.

The pic comparison in the catalog looks like a double hung. I recently had Elevate/Infinity casements put in my master bath, and they appear flush on the outside from what I can see from the ground. Maybe the flush exterior is always standard on casements?

Not sure if I should push my contractor to get pricing. IDK if glass openings are larger - it would seem so. But maybe the frame is not as strong so I'm not sure if extra glass opening is worth it.

Guessing this is a fairly new product line?

Thank you DB. From your pics, and assuming the bottom is what faces out, it does look like the Ultimate would be recessed and have an exterior sill ledge. I have 6 inch walls but the Elevate windows don't look that way. Seems like it would look very strange on a casement.

    Yes the bottom faces out.

They don't look strange at all. Andersen 100 series is very similar and these are everywhere. Also, to a lesser extent, the Marvin Essential series mimics the flush to exterior look as well.

I had a customer a couple days ago choose the 100 series over Essential solely because she liked the flush exteriors. The Essential ledge is only 1/4", so even though it was almost flush, they still preferred the completely flush look of the 100's.

When you place the sash further to the exterior of the window assembly you have more space inside. Your jamb extensions are longer, and it makes your wall seem thicker. I don't think it's a big deal, but worth mentioning.

Thank you DB, the look from the inside is worth considering. It's really hard to tell how the exteriors of each option will look from the website. Does anyone have a good exterior picture of each option???
