Large Window or More Wall Cabinets?

Good morning! Looking for some feedback on adding cabinets vs maintaining a large window. Right now we have a large 83" x 40" window. In our remodel, we are going to take down a wall between the kitchen and a family room (to the left of the window) and put the fridge on the wall with the window, and make the window smaller. My original idea (pic below) is to decrease the window by 13" on one side which will fit the fridge and leave a 5" space between the fridge and the window (on the other side, there would be a 4.75" space between the window and a corner cabinet our contractor has on his plans). This would also mean the window would only change on one side (there is siding on the outside).

Here's my question - the contractor had us decreasing that window down to 44" and putting a 12" cabinet on the left (next to fridge) and a 21" cabinet on the right. I am going back and forth in my mind on the extra cabinets vs. my large window (which I really like!) and am looking for some feed back. I even thought about putting a 12" cabinet on both sides, but it appears a lot of folks think that size of wall cabinets are useless. Below my drawing is the contractor's plan. Thank you!

Bigger window with the sink centered under it. What is to the left of the kitchen? Can you remove that other window and push everything to the left including making the island bigger?

Good morning itsourcasa - to the left of the kitchen is a family room. On the wall to the left of the planned fridge is a 36" exterior door which you can see on the contractor's plan although it is not identified (to the left of it is a fireplace). There is a wall there now, but we plan to take that out.

Ah ok I thought that was a window. Also, do you have a dining room or is this your only eating space (island and kitchen table)?

That family room is pretty large so we were going to move the dining room table (which you can see where it is in the contractor's plans) into the family room (half will be dining, the other half near the fireplace we will put in a sofa). Right now that room is carpeted, but we thought we would do vinyl plank flooring in both the family room and new kitchen.

No 45 degree upper corner in the kitchen...that is very 90's. Run the uppers on the right side of your sink straight to the wall and leave the tiny uppers out completely. Do a window as large as possible.

I added a picture, if you do shelves in the end of the cabinet run, it will leave the space feeling airy and open, and is easy to reach.

bigger window and use drawers in lowers to maximize efficiency of space.

I would also keep the DW on the same side as the refrigerator. In the new location, it would be in the middle of your cooking area which is not ideal. If you plan to store your dishes and pots and pans in the island, then the DW adjacent to the refrigerator is a good location for that as well.
