At the prices they charge for camellias, it is sad to say but the camellia is probably worth more than the house is worth right now. Too bad for the home owners, although I hope they survived. Not sure if those person in the pic are the owners though.

It's only because of how slow they grow, even in an optimal nursery setting. 65 bucks for a 3 gallon delivered to your door ain't all that bad.

Last summer we had a heat wave, one day it was 111°. The 50-year-old camellia bush looked like it was covered in brown potato chips. I had no hope for it, but this spring it’s back and green, didn’t bloom well though.

Yay camellia. I couldn't take that wind. Amazing.
