Thanks Austin, it don't think the link posted... but I do love worm castings as a soil amendment. I haven't had a worm bin for years though. Maybe it is time to try them again.

Very interesting! I always found worm casting to be very expensive, but I have kelp and fish emulsion. I don’t need epson salt as I did a soil test and my soil is very high in magnesium and calcium! I did add alfafa, and my pH is on the higher end. I wonder if I should put a tinny bit of acidifier to make a little more acidic. What do you guys think?

I could not get link to post but for those interested I felt they could Google title. Many sources for purchasing worm castings -no need to “grow your own”. This scientific research information on organic items I had been using for years was new to me and I thought maybe to others. The ARS article was posted in 2020.

The article said that Alfalfa composted to almost neutral so it wasn't a big deal. At least I think that's what I remember! LOL! Maybe I need to reread the article. However just putting wood chips and compost on your soil will attract worms no need to vermicompost specifically.

I was of the same mind, Vaporvac. No need to buy expensive additives in plastic (which is forever) bags for what earthworms do. Wherever I put compost, the earthworms congregate, at lightening speed. Alfalfa pellets are also a good source of slow-release nitrogen/organic matter and is sold in 50# paper bags at my local farm supply. We put it out in winter, during the rainy season, so that it has a chance to break down and get incorporated.

However, I don't "hard-prune" roses of any class, ever, here, which reduces the need to engage in significant amounts of ecosystem import. That first sentence of the article sort of removed me from the target audience (not to mention that "late winter/early spring" is way past time to prune here, IMO, too!).
