It's a fungus. A nasty one. That's a return if you want it to be. Recovery will mean some disfigurement and a long, long recovery.

Take a gander at ColletotrIchum sansevierae and anthracnose. That might be what is going on with your plant.

Many folks here have contended with this. It's not much fun.

I have had good results with mouthwash containing Thymol, baking soda, letting the plant get very dry in warm conditions, and dusting with sulfur some time later.

The spores can travel and get on your other Sansevieria, if you have them. It's a good idea to isolate you plant, whether you decide to return or keep.

I have seen flats of Sansevieria put out in some BB stores infected like this. Then they get the hosing, which does not help. A week later ...

Just seeing this post now. Shana Lee great advise. I had a newly purchased MoonShine with this exact condition. Nothing I could do to save it. Glad I kept it away from my collection. Sometimes there is nothing we could do to save one once heavily infected.
