I'm thinking maybe a runner in the Foyer, if you'll have other furniture in there, and then *maybe* a larger rectangular rug for the Gallery. But I'm not a professional, so I may be inadvertently taking you down the wrong path. lol :-D

I'd go with a runner, fairly understated, so that your Gallery can be a crown jewel kind of place, in the middle of the house. Kind of like, the Foyer says, "Welcome to my home, come on in, we love having you!" and the Gallery says, "I'm the bold accent piece, visible from several places, linger awhile before passing through."

I like to buy/arrange art first, then toss everything else in. After you figure out what you want on the walls of your gallery, I'd revisit the rug/no rug debate. Will the flooring be the same in the Gallery and the Foyer?

That'll make it easier to coordinate rugs! :-) If you decide to do one for both spaces, of course. I loooove fabric, textiles, etc., so rugs are my natural default... I have to have a compelling reason NOT to get one. <3
