Here’s the discussion from last month.

Kitchen Aid hand mixer for me too.

https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6083038/hand-mixer-recommendations-please#n=13

Never shy away from a new thread. New and better products are always on the market. Even just a few months later. I cannot help with a hand mixer but a new spice grinder and recommended stick blender I'm happy with.

Thanks, @maddielee. I even commented on that thread! I’m glad to see it though because I never thought of using a coupon at BBB as someone at the end suggested.

Thanks, also @sleevendog (5a NY 6aNYC NL CA) for the encouragement to post a new thread. Good point on things changing quickly! btw, I love my Cuisinart stick blender but I fear it may be on its last legs. It makes an odd noise whenever I use it these days. I won’t replace it though until it croaks.

Well, that was easy enough. I just ordered KA from BB&B. 20% off and free shipping!

Thanks all!

You'll be happy with it. I've had mine for years (7-speed) and it's still going strong. It can handle some pretty stiff doughs. I've used it a lot more often than my KA stand mixer.

I bought the 5 speed. Truly, what I want it for are those things that could easily be done by hand except (1) I’m lazy and (2) it makes my shoulder hurt. They must have had a run on them. The only color available was white.

I was the OP for the mixer thread. I did get the 5 speed KA and like it very much, it is much quieter than my old one. and works great. I just now whipped up some whip cream for a key lime pie.

@cran, If it hadn’t been for your post in the other thread, I would not have thought to look at BB&B, would not have looked for a coupon, and wouldn’t never have thought I would get free shipping! Thanks a bunch!

Congrats on the new purchase!

So, it may be too late, but I'd also like to commend to you The Ball Whisk.

I have the big one, and a smaller plastic one for use in my enamelled pots. The ball whisk is the perfect tool for a lot of hand mixing that would just get caught up in a cage style whisk or beater.

Thanks, plllog. My hat is off to those who can mix batter, whip cream, or whip egg whites mechanically. I’m not one. I’m a weenie. I need power.

Lol! I once whipped a dozen eggwhites at once by hand, I think with a fork. Never again. I do judge jobs the way you described, though. Cleaning the mixer is a lot of work. Not worth it for a dozen cookies, a batch of pancakes, a single quiche. But I'm not saying you nay on your new mixer! The Danish dough whisk and ball whisk have been revolutionary for me because of the work they don't require, but they're not for everyone. :). Congrats again on your happy medium!

My kids gave me a hand held KitchenAid a few years ago. That thing is powerful and can take on anything.
