Quartzite Crack at Install
Hello! I have a bunch of clowns who installed and cracked my brand new white pearl quartzite countertops. While he was doing this he was drilling through the plywood and smelled like a fire in my condo and on the entire floor.
He also installed the stove about an inch and a half off center.
What can I do? Request the boss replace the entire counter install? Its about 50 sq feet in a tight galley kitchen. I picked out the slab and was so excited to get them in until I realized that they had no idea what they were doing. Cutting in my condo, smoke from the plywood, cutting the stone inside the condo and coating my entire kitchen in dust and debris. HIGHLY reviewed contractor with multiple 5 stars everywhere you look.
They also did a horrible job lining up the back splash as I bought the entire slab so it would all seamlessly flow together. About a $6000.00 mistake.
The burning plywood smell is also pretty bad. Smells like a forest fire when I walk into my brand new kitchen.
Thoughts , ideas or suggestions?

PRO5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoThe faucet hole can be fixed with a replacement sink with a faucet deck, however, the apparent adhesive bleed may be insurmountable. Maybe the cooktop can be recut and cheated over a tad.

were the installers connected to your purchase of the stone? sometimes they send out their own guys. Or did you find these 'pros' yourself after purchasing the stone on your own time?
in any case, they owe you a replacement, or the ability to fix what they've damaged.
I don't know if those spider cracks around the sink can be fixed.
The stove is a joke. the guy missed the opening and hit your cabinet base?? sorry, but that's just poor, lazy work. he's bad at math. you can clearly see it's over about an inch to the right.
you need to talk to the boss of these installers, and get them out there.
the adhesive stuff, with all the info out there, i'm surprised these installers aren't on top of it and using the correct adhesive.
this comes from fabrication. did they cut it on site or in their shop? I agree, it's not the best match up
but, this backsplash is good.
