Dramatic Farmhouse Bathroom Reno

When we bought our historic C 1850s farm, Walton Wood Farm, we spent our money over the last several years renovating the historic barns. They were about to collapse and there was no time to spare. Finally, after seven years we were able to update one of the ugliest bathrooms I have ever seen. And it’s our main bathroom!

We refinished the bathtub and tiles to be more eco-friendly. Although in the end it cost about the same as a new tub and tile, I think the choice added a more authentic blend of old and new. And we were able to combine a tub and shower to make room for a larger vanity.

A fresh, crisp spin on an old design. And we were able to give these materials another 50 years of life!

We ripped out a plug in shower and pedestal sink which had a broom closet behind it to make room for the double vanity.

The vanity was natural wood color but I wanted something more crisp and with depth so I could paint the doors to match.

Now I can soak in my old tub and get a view of the restored barn. Next job- the little

barn on the left.
