To match or not?

Hi! In our dining room, we have a double hutch area with a 5 ft. desk/buffet counter in between that has a Corian white onyx top. The hutch is painted a creamy white. I'd like to try to create a quartz or Corian table to go in there as well - 8'x4'. Should the table surface match the desk area, be of a similar color or be completely different? The kitchen is in the next room and Cambria's Port Rush is what is used on the island and counters. I'm just trying to be as maintenance free as I can b/c the table may have double use as work station and I don't want to worry about scratches, watermarks, etc.... Any advice? Thank you!

Straight back is the dining area with the hutches on the wall. There will be a brushed nickel sputnik-style chandelier. The kitchen is on the far right of the photo, with cabinet doors leaning up against the island.
