Zellige vs Tile

I love the look of Zellige tiles. I’ve found a ceramic tile called “Montauk gin” that has the “look” I like - wavy and shiney, not flat. What do you think?

In a shower, you don’t want little uneven edges to catch and hold water, soap, shampoo or a mixture of the three. It will dry and get icky and could get a bit of mold going if not brushed down fairly often. I like my shower tile even and properly grouted to allow moisture to run down to the floor. It’s also more easy to wipe down since there aren’t those little edges.

I like both but the subway tile is a bit much in the herringbone pattern, I would stagger it.

To clarify, are folks saying DON'T install zellige in a shower??

I’ve seen loads of bathrooms that use zellige in the shower. I wonder if it’s been an issue. I have left over zellige and am considering using it in one of our bathrooms when we remodel it this year.

I love them both for the same reasons you state and thinking of Montauk for kitchen backsplash. Which did you decide on?

I just used Montauk Gin in my kitchen with bone colored grout and I love it!

Love the Montauk gin. Looks great! Wondering if you could describe how the color looks in person. Im strongly considering using it but not sure how it’ll be with my white cabinet and quartz. It actually doesn’t look very white against the cabinet color- almost a light grayish color.

Getting ready to do kitchen backsplash with Montauk Gin. Would prefer something besides white grout. @Laura Kalehoff you said you used bone colored grout. Do you know the grout name & brand please?
