Master Suite Remodel Dilemma

Help! Having difficulty trying to reimagine the layout and spacing for a master suite. It features a large 24' by 12.5' room with a French doors leading to a Juliet balcony, a medium size walk-in closet (80'' x 70'') and a long, narrow bath (9.5' x 5'). The windows are east facing and there is a chimney that is asymmetrical on the south wall. Aside from expanding the bathroom out towards the chimney to add space for a double vanity and a larger shower, we don't have a heck of a lot of ideas. Help!

I am not a pro, and they will chime in, but here are my thoughts:

    1. I don't know what a Juliet balcony is, but it sounds like something that will be rarely used. I'd make those doors either open outwards, or get sliders, because why take up precious space for something rarely used.

    2. Why do you need so much room for a bedroom? Maybe you're different. I prefer to devote much more proportional space to a shared closet. And you better draw in the drawers and hanging space! Or you may be surprised how little room you have.

    3. You are building a home for yourselves. Build yourself a big bathroom! I would carve into that bedroom space for bathroom (2 separate vanities if possible and a bigger space. You don't want that toilet right there when you open the bathroom door, either.

    4. Why are you designing your own....space? Home? Do you have an architect?

Here's what I'd probably do. I'd line walls with cabinets for storage for clothes, and think about reach-in rather than walk-in closets. I'd place the bed facing the view (even though bedroom views might be overrated--it's generally dark when folks are in bed).

It's all about priorities. But to me, it's not going to feel very glamorous or gracious to be so crowded in the bathroom and have a deliberately small closet space.

Show the floor plan for the entire floor. What's around this space? What's the blank space in the middle...................between closet and bath??

    Hi! Thanks for everybody's thoughts.

I'm working to get the original floor plan, but here is what the architect has drawn up so far. It includes adding a walk-in closet to the south side of the master suite, expanding the bathroom for more space for a shower, and flipping the hallway to create a bit of a bonus room that could be either another walk-in closet or a small work-room or yoga room.

What we like about this set-up is that it puts the bed at a nice place to get light in the spring, winter, and fall without the people living across the way being able to look directly in on the bed. We also like the larger bathroom and walk-in closet. What we not in love with is the closed-off work-room and the loss of a larger landing at the top of the stairs. We also lose the potential to have a fireplace in the master.

Yes! My apologies it was late at night and I didn't giver the full context of the project and its constraints. Definitely can't put a window on the south or north walls!
