These season I did not do as many bulbs but here are mine - I do love them a lot!

Big Eartha. Beautiful color but for whatever reason, it didn't open well here. It shatters quickly so I Will get something else next year.

On the Spring is Coming thread I posted that I bought from Becks, a Butterfly Daffodil Collection, Pastel Tulip Collection and a 15,Summer Daffodis. I am so passionate about filling the yard w/bulbs! I love your bulbs-I see you already have gorgeous bulbs of color blooming! And I am filling my yard w/roses. 67 roses are planted and 37 toses are still being shipped to me. There will be a hundred roses in my yard this spring. I just wonder how I will cate for that many? How do you cate gor so many? Do you live daily in the garden? I may do that this spring-summer. Anyway, I’d love to hear more about your gorgeous gardens!

There are a few of us in middle Tennessee and a couple in north Alabama.

Mary, I have 3 Dee-Lish, planted last year. They bloom pretty regularly but I don’t like the bush form. I pruned them hard a few weeks ago and moved them to a spot where there are low growing evergreens to try and resolve the issue.

Severe do You know what kind of azalea that is? If I have time this year, I’ll get quite a few. My yard is very shady With many mature tRees.

Thank you for your kind words. Just in case it wasn;t a type - Angelique is a tulip but she does behave like a rose. :)

When I see masses of flowers and rose bushes covered in hundreds of blooms, I realize I am still at the bottom of the hill. Then again, about 7-8 years ago we were still a household with piles of leaves around the property and weeds growing into trees. Looking back, I am shocked the HOA didn't kick us out. Oh, how things can change...

I am sure you have very pretty blooms in New York too. In fact, my gardening interest began when we were living in Boston and I tried some geraniums for the first time.

I'd noticed Northerners have so many colorful annuals throughout the summer - maybe because they try to make the best of the growing season. I remember admiring the abundance of color in people's yards and on the porches. The South explodes with color briefly in the Spring, with all the azaleas and spring trees - but when the heat kicks in, it's mostly knock-outs you see in commercial areas.

I order from an online evergreen nursery that carries some azaleas, drift roses, and bulbs.

Have only ever gotten various boxwoods and hedging plants from them.

After seeing these pictures, I might need to expand my gardening footprint.

Severe_Novice Zone 7B GA thank you for a chuckle this morning. That sounds like such a Southern thing to me to think about two plants being "kin."

I didn't realize 'kin' is Southy :). I wouldn't really know because I am a Transatlantic Transplant (from Eastern Europe), granted one married to an authentic Southerner.

Then again, I've been here for over 20 years and I think I am now more 'Southy' than most contemporary southerners. I am the one that must remind them all the time they are not Southern enough and that's a shame in my book. :)

That being said, my favorite American state remains Texas. Goodness, do they have something going on over there or what!

Well, I got home with it and I cannot tell you how in love I am with the bloom, the very promissing foliage and the great reviews!

That vibrant, Brazilian pink-coral and the fluffly large bloom is exactly what I was going for. NOW we're talking! The more outrageous, attention-grabbing and diva-esque, the better! LOL

I set it next to my Olivia Rose and Plum Perfect and while these are cute, that HT Diva is blowing them out of the water. I suppose I can't have this in a pot, can I? Grows too big?

In terms of looks only, this has officially become my best-looking rose.

It is my second HT but with good promise for disease resistance, unlike Good as Gold - my first rose and only HT so far, which gets BS a lot. This Spring it came out with so many buds so I am excited to see what it does but regardless, I am afraid it will not have a long future in my rose bed.

I read more about the House of Meilland and I think I will keep an eye out for their pretties from now on. Gorgeous. Now I want Francis Meilland.

I just wanted to add that I think the fragrance is beautiful but nowhere close to the intensity reported. I could go 3 times stronger. Then again, I seem to be over-the-top with everything. LOL

So thank you, Mary! I wouldn't have gotten this beauty without you - and for 17$ at WalMart, to boot.

This is the picture I took when I got home. The lighting is not doing it any justice whatsoever. In reality, that coral is breathtaking from my kitchen windows! A bush covered in this bloom would be something magnificent.

Severe - good going on getting Dee-Lish! I had two Dee-Lish last year....they both smelled like grass to me. LOL I'm glad that yours smells very good! You never know...the fragrance could get stronger once it's growing in your yard. :)

Even if it doesn’t, I’m ok with that. My nose meter is not very well developed and I tend to under-smell fragrances anyway. What people say is overwhelming fragrance, I can barely detect. I love roses for their optics, not their olfactory charms. I would never get a rose for fragrance only.

What I want is a cascade of bloom at all times and no leaf loss from BS. :)

Severe - We're all different. And that's good. :) :) A fragrance that I can't seem to smell on my roses is the tea fragrance.

Yes, indeed azaleas give you a spectacular show for about 10-12 days or so. The South is glorious at this time of the year.

But I remember a horticulturalist talking about azaleas a while ago and how she didn't quite understand the fuss around them. She said: "If I had an entire year to prepare so I can look good for two weeks, I would look good too!" LOL

She was kind of right. So blooms are short-lived. Then again, the plants are ever-greens and can look nice for the rest of the year, though nothing remarkable. There are some bloom-again azales that are supposed to give another flush in the fall, but that one is never quite as glorious as the Spring.

I am not sure whether Ben reads around here at this time, but I came close to writing an SOS because I am ready to beg for his recipe. Whatever he's doing to those roses, it's magic. I've never seen such peformance on roses anywhere.

Is this what makes them look so full of bloom and vigorous? Hard pruning? I'll do it if that's what it takes!

Severe...yes, definitely he has a "magic sauce" that he has concocted. LOL Also, I think his roses are on fortuniana rootstock which are supposed to give more blooms. But, regardless of that...he knows what he's doing!
