Going hog wild with "Spring addictions"

With all this plant death and NO PLANT SWAPS nearby has me hemorrhaging at nurseries both in town and online. I am out of control. I just got back from dropping another wad at the Natural garden. I also got a shipment in from Plant delights. I think My husband would not like it but hell's bells. I don't buy clothes except at goodwill. Do I have company in the Spring Hemorrhage Nursery fever?

I did get myself an Agave albopilosa. They were discovered growing on cliffs outside of Monterey Mexico. I have been wanting one for years but they were to dear. I need to develop a perfect drainage situation for it. I also got a "Stairway to Heaven " Agave hybrid and a artemisia ludoviciana from Fredricksburg but it was raised in North Carolina. LOL. It has been a long time since I bought any plants of this sort. Last year I just raised a few vegetables from seeds. Feels good. I got a Yucca faxoniana to replace the 16'er that died. This one is maybe 1' tall. Kinda sad but I could not find any taller ones. I would have sprung for a big one. I miss that plant so bad. It should be blooming now.

Raising my hand, too, here. I've got it bad, after the initial month of morning and faciag reality about my losses.

I just planted a 20x8' back yard bed with 100 Vinca starts and an adjacent bed half that size with 60 variegated Pachysandra. Luckily, both beds are surrounded by sidewalk, driveway and brick house wall, so spreading shouldn't be an issue.

Added 6 Ligustrum 'Sunshine' to the bed out front looking the barest until the 5 Cast Iron clumps surrounding trees come back. Going to Lowes perhaps today to pick up something freeze hardy to go in my 6 large pots out front that were formerly home for 6 Nandina 'Firepower' that died in the freeze. They're just not showing a single new leaf or ground shoot after 2 months, so I'm certain they are goners. No more green showing inside (thich they did for awhile last month) when I scratch the bark. Staying away from annuals for the most part. Freeze-hardy perennials is all I'm looking at these days. Learned my lesson.

This week I'm planting a small bed with Lamb's Ear to meander at the feet of some Giant Liriopes starting to come back again. Want it to choke out the weeds in that bed. My existing Lamb's Ear came through the freeze with flying colors! :)

I'm still in mourning for the plants that I lost, but your excitement is enticing.

Don't get me wrong . Not a day goes by that I am not in morning. Waking up to sections of the huge yucca lying on my lawn drying up like a sickened alien waiting to be cremated. Gets to me but now I have to run for some decomposed granite for my potting base for my tiny agaves.

Do I have company in the Spring Hemorrhage Nursery fever?

*Raises hand*

Three days ago, I ordered 15 phlox and 4 lavender from a mail order nursery in Maine. I have a tab up in my browser for 30 baby violas from a place in Georgia. I signed up to be notified at another place, when passiflora and chocolate vines (purple and white varieties) are back in stock from a nursery in Louisiana.

I am in *desperate* need of pottery, though! D.e.s.p.e.r.a.t.e.!!! Oh, and I need like 30 of those awesome concrete planter wall block thingies for raised beds (the kind you place on the corners of your desired area and slide 2x4s into them). [Edited to correct: 2x6s, not 2x4s.]

And yeah... I'm not a Goodwill Girl (no way am I dragging 7 kids out shopping, lol), but I get mine from eBay. $20 or less, at a time, lol. Don't have much use for jewelry, either... Give me children and flowers, and I'm happy!

I enjoyed reading about the new plants y'all are getting; some of them I had to look up not knowing what they are.

I'm looking for Euphorbia 'rigida' to put where Eric's gorgeous huge ground bromeliad was in the front yard. (I kept a start, btw) If anyone in San Antonio sees it for sale locally please let me know.

I see them ALL THE TIME at the Natural Garden in Austin. I bet it will be easy to find them at a "GOOD" natives type garden store.

Edit: These folks in East Austin mention it on their site but currrently sold out. But they have a "notify me" button so you will get an email when/if they get it in.
