It looks like a coral bark japanese maple.

A red leaved form would have entirely red leaves.

if you peruse some of the sellers of named varieties ... the variation on this color scheme.. are .... or can be.. very expensive ...

i think you found a gem at a bargain at big box .... i suspect you might come to treasure it ... and you can add green with just about every other plant on the face of the earth .... this might end up the prime focal point in your garden ....

but.. if you want plain old green.. live your dream ... and who cares what i think ...

Plenty of plants are reddish in the spring, particularly maples. I'd wait a month or two. It's really pretty, though.
