I don't know how big your lot is but, you will never get the mosquitos under control by working your yard. They fly and travel to any where the environment is acceptable to them. When one area is cleared the mosquitos in the surrounding area will take their place. Sort of like putting a couple of milliliters of green dye in the ocean and expecting it to turn green.

Encourage nature predators, like bats, birds, lizards, etc so you don't have as many mosquitos. Make sure the wet spots around your yard are drained so they dry. I read mosquitos are the closest thing to instant there is in nature; just add water and you have them. Plant the yard with flowers and plants that will attract butterflies, etc which in turn will attract birds and other predators..

Put one of the electric zappers for the areas where you sit.

If you can get the city, or your HOA to fog you neighbor hood.
