Help IDing perennial

I usually try to keep fairly good track of what I have put in my gardens, but apparently I plopped this in there with no notes or labels, and have completely forgotten about it. Either that or it’s a weed. Haha :) But it seems like an intentional plant.

any ideas? It’s in a fairly shady area, so it must at least tolerate a bit of shade.

stems are fairly tender and succulent at this stage.

leaves are mostly opposite, at a bit of an angle. stems somewhat reddish.

closest thing in my garden is phlox paniculata, but doesn’t seem like a match.

Perhaps Lysimachia clethroides.

Hmmm.... I suppose that’s possible, although I know for certain I wouldn't have knowingly planted that and there are no wild plantings around that it could have come from. I couldn't find a good enough picture of leaves and stems to positively ID. My plant appears to be a clumper atm, but if it starts to run I’ll give loosestrife a good hard look. And then remove it ASAP. Haha :) thanks.

i thought the clumping aspect LOOKED like someone tried to pull out a rogue tee or shrub.. and the only thing they accomplished was breaking it off at soil level .. and the result was multiple dormant buds breaking this spring ...

Lol. I can see why you thought that. In person, though, it is obvious that it is a multi stemmed plant rather than exuberant regrowth from breakage. Also the texture of the plant seems quite wrong to be shrubby. It is most similar to my veronicastrum.
