Chantilly Lace vs. Super White - need another option!

Need white paint help please. Painting our entire house white. Have it narrowed down between Chantilly Lace & Super White but would love to find another option that isn’t as stark. Any recommendations for something softer than these 2? Tried Simply White (too yellow), Decoraters (too gray), Pure White (too gray), White Dove (too yellow?). Thanks so much!!!

I tend to spec Chantilly Lace for a brighter white and Simply White for a more "neutral" white. If you're willing to change vendors, I also like Extra White by Sherwin-Williams.

Yes for interior! Analysis paralysis on choosing the best white for everything in our home. Never knew whites would be so hard to choose.

White Heron is another nice choice.

I painted my new home, all of it, in Chantilly Lace. My furnishings tend toward cool so I didn't want a warm undertone nor something that was hospital white. And I've found that this color seems to stay pure clear white but without being cold in every room and every light.

Thank you! Will have to try White Heron.

So glad to know you love Chantilly Lace! What wall finish did you choose & any regrets?

No regrets at all. I think it looks gorgeous, especially since I have white faux dupioni silk drapes in the living room and bedroom and real linen drapes in the family room. (All have blackout lining.) The walls and ceiling are matte, the doors, kitchen cabinets, and trim are semi-gloss and there is glossy too (where I can't think of right now) The different textures are fabulous, especially in the living room where the drapes play off the matte shade. I feel very fortunate because it all works so perfectly together. I have been reading and enjoying various home decor blogs, websites and more for many years and it paid off for me when I was able to make choices quickly and find they were excellent due to a combination of natural talent and a lot of listening to and learning from others.

Would love to see any pictures. Is your style modern?

I need "after pictures" but have to have a friend take them. I'll try to get them soon. I tend to call my style comfortable elegance. It's a comfortable home; I want people to feel that above all but yes, there is an elegance about it. I guess I'd say it's a blend of modern and traditional. It's very much "me" as this is my first home and I am unleashing all the built-up knowledge, wisdom and ideas gleaned from home decor magazines, blogs, websites and discussion forums over many years, honing my own instincts and running them all through my sense of what works. I am pleased to say it astonishes people but most of all it pleases me.

thank you for the comments on Chantilly Lace We are painting our open plan 1st floor (LR DR and Kitchen) replacing Accessible Beige which I hate. I paid a colorist who recommended BM Sheep's Wool (which I have never heard of so hard to access reviews). I have seen pictures of homes she has put it in before which look nice but it seems like just a light Accessible Beige. Anyway, I started out wanting Chantilly Lace. I may still stick with my idea. Light comes from NE in the LR on the water side and SW from the kitchen side so it's always darker in the kitchen. Her second choice was White Dove but when I put the sample in the kitchen I see yellow. Would love your comments.

Have you looked at BM Cloud White? Softer than Chantilly Lace with no strong undertones. Of course, everything about paint colour depends on your light (natural and artificial). Another BM white to consider might be Oxford White. But please, don't drive yourself crazy trying to find ONE perfect white for your whole house. Chances are good it won't look the same throughout your house and you might need to choose it based on the largest area where it looks best.

@kcsublett If you try White Heron, would you post a review? That's one of the few I have not tried yet! 😜

IMO (and I’m far from an expert!), it boils down to cool vs warm. What does your wardrobe say? Your other furnishings? Do your tastes lean cool or warm?

I “wanted” to go cool, but finally decided I was kidding myself. I’ve always been a sun girl and lean toward warm colors, so my current plan is to pick a white that leans warm. My top contender right now is Simply White. I do have a sample of Super White and I love that color on my foam core board, but I think I will be happier in the long run with the hint of warmth throughout my home.
