OptiMax Eco Resilient Flooring
Has anyone installed this flooring from floor and decor? Seems pretty new, and can’t find any reviews or even installations anywhere. Was going to do NuCore performance but other reviews of their other lines has kind of worried me, and saw a color I liked from OptiMax. Thanks for any info!

@DavidWang Was your floor already installed? We are having the same issues - Peaking, buckling, squishy areas on our installed flooring. We sent photos to F&D with our complaint and she claims it most likely not the product but the installation or an uneven subfloor. We hired a professional installer who had to take a class at F&D prior to installing it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Beth.

We absolutely HATE this flooring! After a month of having this flooring installed it was chipping and separating. we had a professional come out and re-install and replace planks and still having issues.

@Amy, I highly recommend you hire your own inspector to come out and send that report to them, to see if they will honor the so called lifetime warranty. The inspector that was sent to my home, talked about the flooring terribly, then turned around and sent in the report that it was my contractor’s fault. That’s when I was advised to hire my own inspector for at least $500 - $600 and resend those results… I’m beyond Frustrated at this point.
I been looking at Cali flooring

We are having same issues within 2 months of install. Please keep us posted on any class action lawsuits or success in getting refunds from F&D.
I’m not sure if anyone has started the process for the class action suit, however, as for obtaining a refund, F&D will do everything in their power to not refund your money and/or take accountability.

I've had the same issues. This product is crap. We had it professionally installed in new construction and its coming apart for a second time. It's the worst. And F&D is not helping.

Floor & Decor sent out one of their inspectors to my home. The inspector stated the floors were horrible, however, when he turned it the report, he stated it was my contractor’s fault. I was livid. I reached back out to F&D and was advised I could hire my own inspector and start the process over.

This flooring is terrible! I had the same issue and now have to trash it - ~ 1000 Square feet, in less than 18 months, I have to replace the floor. I would warn everyone to stay away from it. We used self-leveling concrete, the blue underlayment and it was in an empty unit, and it buckled and popped within 3-6 months of installation. I am out the product price, install and now replacement costs/ install. 100% Regret. I am now in search of another brand/store together. I would join any class action if it was started, I believe F&D is no longer selling it.

I feel for you Shelley, unfortunately my attorney told me to put carpet over the affected area. That was insult to the injury. I still have all the pictures in case someone found a layer willing to take this up. There is enough of us with proof how bad this product it.

We purchased Optimax chateau konig for our Ft Muers Condo this spring, we had it professionally installed. we came back up north and our cleaning lady says it is buckling (the edges are popping up). if F &D cant make it right i will check into a class action, so please all stay in touch.

Floor and Decor will push off blame onto the installer and homeowner in all cases. They send out their own inspector to ensure that they have done their due diligence. Box says it has to be on a level surface of 3/16 over a 10 foot radius. This is almost perfectly flat. So without a perfectly flat surface this product is going to SUCK and installers don't know that.
DON"T buy this product. It's different than what most installers are used to and they will assume it's as flexible as Vinyl...but it's not. My floor broke in at least 5 spots and I'm going to have to pull it all up.
I'd join a class action also. - last year
@Debi. Keep us posted. I went as far as going to the Floor & Decor store and spoke with both Managers. Nothing. I spoke with someone from Floor & Decor Customer Service, that was a joke. The floor inspector that was sent out stated to me the floor was Awful, however, when he submitted my report he was in favor of the Manufacturer. I was then advised by Floor & Decor to hire my own Inspector and they would take that report into consideration.
So at this point a Class Action Suit would be required, because Floor & Decor has no intention of taking accountability - last year
They are still selling Optimax in the CT area. It was our favorite color/style and we were close to buying it. Thank you to all who posted here. I will probably go with something from Costco simply because of their return policy. We used some Costco vinyl flooring on an entryway a few years back. It was difficult to install but has held up well. I love the F&D store experience and am disappointed too here of the lack of service/support. This whole situation is what keeps me going back to costco.

what is the color that most people installed? I installed beaumont, and I see that they are discontinuing it.
0 - last year
I installed the Beaumont also. That’s interesting they’re discontinuing the product, I just spoke to Floor & Decor awful Claims department again today and was basically told I have to pay for a second inspection because the first inspector that came out didn’t state my floors were buckling and separating. I am beyond furious at this point, this has been going on over a year.
Where did you see the floor is being discontinued?0 - last year
If u go onto website under eco flooring Beaumont is gone. If you search under name u can find it at discounted price. This leads me to think its discontinued.

I don't think it's all of Optimax; I think it is a specific style/color; that is my guess.

@shelley1551. Yes, it’s the Beaumont. Just about everyone in this thread has the Beaumont

I sympathize with all the folks having issues. It's a big expensive job to have to redo. I assume we were lucky and possibly the style we used was not defective at the time anyway. I installed 50 boxes of Chateau Neuveux (Dark Gray) 2 years ago and we have not had one issue.

@williamgcrawford I have used (and still use Floor and Decor) for many floors, including some wood on my main floor, its why I am so frustrated by the Beaumont - it si the first one after many, many floors (I remodel most of the houses I move into) from F&D. I am rethinking that going forward. Just super bummer due the expense/labor.

Ok, I was going to buy this but not anymore. I am buying an old home in FL. Does anyone know if NuCore is ok to buy and put down? I am not sure what to do now.

We had the beaumont flooring installed throughout our whole house (minus the bathrooms). When we purchased from F&D I noticed this specific color had been discontinued and was on sale (still expensive though!). I asked why and was told that the color was no longer on trend. I didn’t believe that but took his word for it and felt lucky the color I wanted was on sale! We bought 1800 sq ft worth, and hired their contracted installer. Prior to installing, I spoke with the main installer about the flooring and mixed reviews I had read. He assured me this is a top quality flooring and if done right with the proper underlayment, it will be perfect and last for a long time and that he had installed this flooring for years. So we went with his suggestions and had them install. 6 months later and we are experiencing the same buckling and separating issues mentioned in these reviews. We reached out to the installers about our issues and they came over to inspect. They said the floor shouldn’t be doing what it’s doing and that they would have to speak with their manager before any repairs can be done. But now we are unable to get anyone to take our call or call us back from the install/contractor’s office. They are avoiding us, argh!! I am hesitant to even bother contacting F&D, especially since their contractor is blowing us off. Has anyone looked into a lawsuit? I think we’d have a good case. Here are a few pics, but they don’t do it justice. It’s much worse looking in person.

I am in the process of removing 1000 square feet, in less than 2 years. It never stopped. It is very rigid and any slight uneven anything snaps the locks. I did really like the color and pattern.

I have notice that the thinner the total thickness of the lvp, the easier it is to buckling up or warp as it's not that rigid. For the last 3 rental houses I used the total thickness of 8mm from Medieval Floors Chaumont and loved it. We are now shopping for the Medieval Floors 10mm thickness 30mil wear layer, but not sure what to pick for our off-white cabinets.

We installed ours (Florida home) over a year ago, had zero problems best flooring we have ever had. make sure you use the recommended underlayment, you need it regardless of what they tell you. We got Rainier Mist. 1000 percent recommend. PS no matter how many years experience someone has the installation is a mix of laminate and vinyl, so they have to be familiar with this specific flooring (ERF) or it wont be done right. ours was installed perectly anf we have had zero problems

I installed Optimax Sumpter Springs Eco Resilient Flooring, and after one month I am seeing the same problems. Should have checked online first!

We have sanoah pike. have had issues with buckling. hired independent inspector. come to find out this product has to expand and contract. our door casing and baseboards were installed too tight on top of the planks. floor could not move so it bowed. some planks were even butted up to the wall. These are major issues with this floor as it has to expand and contract.

DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT!!! IT DOES BUCKLE!!! VERY BRITTLE AND DIFFICULT TO INSTALL AND WE USED PROFESSIONAL INSTALLERS RECOMMENDED BY FLOOR & DECOR. WE HAD IT INSTALLED IN OUR ENTIRE HOUSE (EXCEPT BATHROOMS) IN 2022

Reading all these comments is infuriarting. We just had an inspector hired by F&D come to our home. His report came back as it was our fault and no manufacturer issues but we have dozens of cracks in the corners of boards and chips in the surface of the boards. He blamed it on us dropping things etc. We've dropped one thing on our floor and didnt even share that gouge with him because it was our fault. Every day the floor gets worse. We will be hiring our own inspector asap and will be contacting our attorney. Has a class action been set up? If not I will ask my attorney about starting one.

This flooring is garbage. I personally installed mine 2 years ago and am currently on a break from ripping it out and wanted to look it up based on what I've seen on my uninstall. Not surprised to find others in the same situation. I am no professional installer but have laid quite a few floors (laminate, LVP and tile) before and have never had issues. I have experienced mass warping of the planks (bananaering?) and minor buckling. This product also seems to expand significantly more than they claim it does, despite leaving the recommended gaps (3/8) I am finding it's expanded right the way to the wall and is buckling as a result. I'll never set foot in F&D again. Because I didn't have it "professionally" installed, I have no recourse but I can assure you it's garbage flooring. Side note, it's brittle as all hell on install, snapping the rails of it is way too easy and those stupid adjoining clips are gimmicky and prone to dislodging while installing.

I haven’t commented on the Horrific Trash F&D identify as Premium Flooring in some time, due to I get infuriated everyday I look at my floors knowing I will have to purchase new floors whilst already in the middle of my Kitchen Reno. The floor inspectors are just as Sinister as Floor & Decor. At this point I can only recommend seeking Legal Advice, F&D will not take Accountability, I’ve been dealing with this situation over a year now.

We too purchased OptiMax (Montreaux) . We did a large area approximately 1600 sq ft. We had professional installer that Floor & Decor recommended (we were VERY happy with the installer). Just a few months after the install the buckling began. Our installer came back and fixed it to make it livable, but by no means was it nice. Floor & Decor sent out an inspector who said it was the installer. You can see how the individual boards are not level.. it could not possibly be the installer. We have now hired our own inspector. Hopefully we will get better results. However, based on everything I have read here, we will likely have to go to court to get any relief as Floor & Decor just doesn't care.
Will update when the inspector comes out. If anyone does file a class action suit, we are in.

It was i stalled with the proper gap. Within 6 months the boards are warping. I have it next to my porcelain tile shower. When the installers came back the board is butted up to the tile. It is crazy. It is OM 7x54 7mm French Toast. I can’t believe how expensive it was and what crap it is! I am sick over this. At the 11 month mark, it is popped up and floating in the bedroom. You can bounce on it.

We had our master bedroom completely redone due to warping. Floor was installed per Floor and Decor website. Well it is buckling again.

Good Morning/Afternoon Dependent on your time zone!
I see there have been quite a few complaints of multiple colors of the Optimax brand LVP. Has anyone installed the "OM 7MM Bowen Greige" flooring from F&D? If so, is anyone having any issues? We had this specific flooring professionally installed throughout our home, not including the bathrooms.
We had it delivered with plenty of time to acclimate, installed the underlayment, & ensured there was enough room for the floating floor to expand and retract as needed. We had F&D send an inspector out who didn't utter a word to us during the entire process and as you already know... he sided with the company due to poor install and poor foundation issues.
I see quite a few people mentioning a class action lawsuit, has there been any movement on this?
0 - 6 months ago
I haven’t found anything online about a lawsuit. A friend spoke to a floor installer and he said he only does wood now. He hates all of the laminates. At best he said no matter what people buy, those 25 year warranties are a joke and to expect to replace them in 10 years or so.
I pulled up some the quarter round, and it had expanded. We trimmed it back. There is heavy furniture in the room, so i am hopeful when the weather cools it will help. Also the threshold was glued down and there was some glue under the edge of the floor. Surprisingly, it helped. But it still floats. I am going to live with it and buy a rug.

Hello Everyone,
As for the Optimax Beaumont that most of us here purchased, it has been discontinued.
The floor installer may be on to something by only installing wood. I have given up on the fight with F&D and accepted the money/time wasted. I would advise, if possible, to glue it all down, I promise No Matter the installer, the floor will warp, buckle, etc.
My floors did not make it past one month and it’s only getting worse, I’m currently working on my bathroom so I haven’t made the attempt to pull all of it up. - 6 months ago
Hello everyone
i mon the same situation. found out that they are discontinued probably because they know its defected. i am still waiting on a reply from customer service. is there a class action on this yet? my whole house was done professionally and is one floor throughout. Extremely expensive and i need at least 2 boxes for just repairs. this is devestating for us. Any help is greatly appreciated.
thank you

I just bought the OptiMax flooring (12/04/24). Mine is called Sapelo Shore and it is buckling in several places. I had my installer come back and look at it one month after it was installed because of buckling in two different spots. He decided to glue those two spots down by drilling a small hole in each spot and shooting glue into it. He placed heavy objects on top of these two spots and they were left in place for over a week. During that time other areas buckled up even worse. I removed the heavy objects over the glued area and these two spots are buckled back up. I am waiting for my installer to show up, again to see what he has to say before going back to Floor & Decor to talk to them.

I had my installers back. The area they glued down caused the adjacent area to buckle worse. They loosened it and redid the threshold. They checked the edges and cut it shorter where it expanded during the hot weather. Now that it is cooler it has all settled down completely flat. There are two cracks I can see. When the weather heats up I am going to take up the quarter round and cut the floor as much as I can away from the walls. I will put the quarter round back but leave more room for the floor to expand. I am going to take it out of the adjacent bathroom and go with tile. The edges can’t be caulked because of the expansion. It is inevitable that this waterproof floor will get water seepage under the cut edge by the shower. It was a bad decision to put it in that location. I can’t take the chance. A waterproof floor may not allow water to go through it, but it sure can let water flow under the cut edge allowing mold to grow.

These comments are concerning. I feel that I must be one of the lucky ones. We have Optimax Anthem Alder in our remodeled cabin for just about 2 years now with zero issues at all.
It is extremely scratch resistant and has held up to all the little gravel pebbles that catch in the soles of your shoes. No buckling or lifting, either. Seems bulletproof.
I will say my installer cursed it and thought it was very difficult to install. I have a new project elsewhere and Optimax was to be my first choice once again. This new location has lots of sand and humidity.
Went into F & D this week and fell in love with the artisan edge on the Nucore Hidden Cove.It looks incredibly real! Thought I should do a little research and I’m not seeing too many good things about Optimax or Nucore. Ugh

Optimax is a wood fiber floor. Expands way more than install specs call for, that is why it buckles.

We used 1300sq feet of Optimax Model # OM06v2- beaumont eco resilient flooring and had it installed throughout our entire home with the exception of 2 bathrooms.
We purchased from Floor and Decor and thought we got top of the line product with all the great claims of this product displayed in store and online. It was not cheap. We wanted a product to last us a lifetime. My husband is a disabled veteran and I did not want to have to replace floors in 10 years so we picked what we thought was a better quality product. We are experiencing the same issues as everyone here.
Floor and Decor Website promotes there product.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We did not do it ourselves as the website suggests that any DIY person can install it themselves because it's an easy installation. We hired a contracted installer who has done floors for us in the past. He also installed a waterproof under lament for added protection. We noticed after 8 -10 months some seams were detaching. As time went by, more and more long and short seams were moving and in some places buckling. We contacted our same contractor to come take a look to see to see if he can fix it. He said it's a problem with the product. It should not be moving apart like this. It appears the planks are not hooking together because it is all over the home, not just in one area. If it was just one or a few that may be corrected. But it is more than just a few areas. He suggested we need to file a claim and/or sue.
Please include me in any additional class action lawsuit. We spent a lot of money on this product along with costs associated with professional installation. We should not have to go through this if what the product claims are true and accurate.

I purchased 1,600 sq ft of Optimax Sapelo Shore planks on 11/9/24 specifically for their advertised “durability,” a claim made by sales staff, packaging, and in-store comparison displays. However, after installation, I quickly realized the flooring was nowhere near as durable as promised. By 1/8/25 we had noticed significant scratches, gouges and chips in the corners of the floor. When I contacted Floor & Decor for a charge back through my credit card, they denied my claim outright because I had already accepted and installed the product—completely disregarding the fact that durability is something you can only assess after installation. They also determined that our concerns fall outside the scope of the warranty and refused to ever send an inspector or review photos of over 15 chips and dents. This is very concerning considering the marketing of the lifetime warranty is another reason we purchased the floor. The boards are also coming apart in places but we weren’t even pursuing them for that because we knew they would blame that on install. We were specifically concerned about the egregiously SOFT nature of the floor.
Perhaps the most telling sign of their poor product quality is the store’s own display model. When I first purchased my flooring in October, the display looked intact. Now, just a few months later, that same model—installed and mounted by Floor & Decor—is visibly falling apart. Keep in mind, this display isn’t even exposed to foot traffic or daily wear, yet it’s breaking down just like the floor in my home. If their so-called “scratch-, dent-, and gouge-resistant” flooring can’t even hold up on a display, how can they expect customers to believe in its durability?
Very interested if a class action lawsuit has been filed. Wish I found this thread a few months ago. Would have saved our family so much time, money and heartache.
