You don't need a ladder, you need a machete. Drop the thing slow to get the bananas. Then cut that stalk to the ground. It is done. No more bananas from that one.

I have a Pisang Ceylon, which is probably similar but not exactly the same. It didn't fruit until it reached 14 or 15 feet tall. Even then, the plant was too young I think and the stalks were too narrow to support the heavy weight of the fruit, and it broke in some high winds - happened twice.
