Los Angeles rose bush help please

Hello, just moved in and have an approx 35 year old rose bush. Gave me 5 incredible flowers. The bush looks more like an acacia tree. Big gnarled thick branches with no leaves and then a bushy flat dense canopy. How do i open this up and get more flowers? See photos. Thank you!
