We have black faucet, handles in high use bath for 12 years. Still looks great, except for the sink drain, which I suspect is tarnished from drain cleaner, which we had to use quite a few times. We bought a very high quality faucet, though. And it’s very striking, even now.

Following. We have a bathroom reno coming up and ordered all Kohler matte black fixtures and were wondering the same thing. Hopefully they hold up as well as yours!

@Momma Farmer ive had issue with my brushed nickel drain due to caustic chemical not getting rinsed immediately, wish we could easily pop them off for when needed! Thanks for the info on your faucet! I’m going for it!

Years ago I put what was then an expensive faucet at a bath sink....color was something like Midnight Pearl by Chicago faucets. Deepest charcoal. Not matte. Loved it. Vanity was dove gray Corian, bath was mostly white with carrara tub surround. Yes, I know. ......Ahead of its HGTV time ;0) This was three decades back....

The faucet still looked great when we sold the house first week listed. We'd used it more than 15 years....master, so two of us and every day.

I'm also having trouble getting good info. Most articles say they are easier to care for and don't show water stains. But I think there are 2 issues. Water stains, and calcium build-up. But calcium probably would show on anything so maybe there's no difference there.

We picked all black fixtures for our new build in the master bath (husband doesn't like chrome or brass at all) and I wasn't crazy about the polished nickel. Just saw a post on Instagram from an Interior Design that went thru 6 things that you should never do black in your house and one was your fixtures. I was shocked! She said it was just a trend and will be outdated in a few years. How many are doing black fixtures in your master bath? I have seen tons of black faucets in the kitchen, but not many in the master bath. Would love some examples.

If your selection of items in the bathroom is coordinated and well thought out selecting black fixtures and accessories will work, but black like everything else is a trend that is popular now but will fall out of favor over time.

Chrome, stainless, and nickel are the finishes that stand the test of time.

@Jolene Kroeger im using black fixtures in my guest bath, depending on the rest of the decor, i dont think black is overly trendy. luckily, if the fixtures start to look dated in 10 years it‘s an easy thing to update. everyone says this or that will become dated. if you avoid everything that has a possility of become dated, you arent left with much. but i have a feeling black is here to stay. I think its always going to look clean and modern.
