Where are you located? Your location will determine what plants you can use.

Do you care about privacy? Are you more interested in a low groundcover, or taller shrubs/trees?

Have you experienced heavy rain yet at your new house? Do you know if you have any drainage issues, or are there any areas that turn into streams, lakes when it rains? It's not the end of the world, but again, it may determine what kind of plants work best in your situation.

And finally, how much upkeep are you willing to do? Are you fine with pruning, raking, mulching, etc. or would you like something low-maintenance?

Thanks for reply
I m at Allentown Pennsylvania
Interesting in low ground cover
Average rain
No drainage issue
I can do maintenance if it’s required

Weed around the plants you want to keep. Spray the other weeds to kill them. Go to a good local independent garden center and inquire about groundcover SHRUBS for full sun after measuring the dimensions of the slope you need to cover. Buy the ones you want and plant them. Then mulch the slope and keep it weeded until the groundcover SHRUBS fill in.

Terraces are a great idea -- divide that slope into 2 or 3 parts. Plant daffodils or tulips in the lowest one -- they appreciate good drainage, follow with annuals when the bulb foliage fades. And/or consider "gro-low sumac" ... it's awfully tough and would hold that bank well.

You could also incorporate rock into the slope and plant shrubs or decorative grasses in pockets between the rocks. This way you will cut down on the number of plants and lower your maintenance.

Just don't use round river rocks -- they will look out of place in this situation.
