How do I fix polyurethane where stair treads meet stringer?

I refinished our oak stairs and used water based polyurethane. In 2 areas when I took off the painter’s tape, I pulled up some of the polyurethane. How can I fix these 2 areas? They’re not super noticeable, but I know they’re there.

Strip, sand and refinish the intire stairway. NOT ! You know the answer is simply touch it up.

    What are we looking at?

Just guessing, but doesn't a piece or trim -- maybe a skirt board go there ?

Put your trim up. This is part of why trim is used. And don't leave tape on wood for more than 12 hours. And use only "sensitive surfaces" on wood finish. ...I know. A shock too late, but someone else might read this thread.

Most likely a isolated issue. Touch it up and move on. Be aware that you may have adhesion issues, if, you notice the finish underperforming - scratch easily, flakes and peels.

I’ve never seen trim on that part of the stairs. I will sand and touch it up. Thank you everyone for your comments.
