Small Master Bath - Layout Question + Banjo Top?

I'm creating a new master bath and closet from a small room - it's down to the studs so now is the time to make changes. The designer specified a walk-in shower on one side and the vanity and bath on the other with doors to the bedroom and closet slightly off center.

Now that the plumbing is roughed in, I'm having some second thoughts about whether everything is placed ideally. The layout is below but it seems much smaller in person! The toilet is plumbed 17" from the wall and I'm wondering if I can fit a 30 inch sink next to it. The shower seems a bit large, but I guess I could make it more luxurious given it's the master.

The other option is putting a banjo top on the vanity and over the toilet. This seems to be a great way to get more counter space. However, I just learned about banjo tops today - most posts seem to be a bit old so wondering if banjo tops are passe or not.

@bearbev I have a linen closet in the kids' bathroom, plus the vanity will have storage as well as the walk-in closet. For tile, I found a YouTube video with a look I like and am just replicating that using tile from a big box. I've special ordered tile for a past project and really it was hard to tell it was better quality...and things are taking so much longer now. I'm going off the shelf so we can get in by the end of June.

I am looking at same for ideas. Ours is similar to your layout, except toilet is next to shower in a water closet. Our garden shower/tub is same size as your planned shower. We have a linen closet where your toilet is indicated. Is there storage planned in the space? I'm looking at tile for floor and shower, which this task could take forever! I guess you would need to change to a single shower if you wanted to move the toilet to the shower side, but it would give you much more space for vanity, there's a tradeoff on each side. Good luck!

I would not recommend a banjo counter over the toilet. It is difficult to access the tank for any kind of simple repairs. We replaced a toilet with a banjo countertop and had a difficult time even finding one that would fit. We eventually removed the banjo when we changed out the countertop and could not be happier.

Did the designer suggest a relocation of the door leading from the bedroom into the bath? Is there some reason that door cannot be moved?

@chiflipper - both doors can be moved to the right or left, but can't be moved to a different wall or it won't be accessed by the master bedroom.

How many inches is needed to access a toilet for repairs? Is 6” enough?

Banjo top..what is it????

I just redid my bathroom..terrazzo floors and subway tile, handmade (Pratt and Larson) so lots of color variation, blaack fixtures..looks super, I think! Wish I could add photos!!

The banjo top is a sink/counter that extends to one side at a reduced depth, extending over the toilet (creating a shelf over the toilet at the height of the counter). So if viewed from above, kind of forms a 'banjo' shape.
