Lancaster. You’ll add value IMO, and you’ll love in the long run (if you can afford).

I like the Concord better myself. I hate the handles on the Lancaster. That's just my opinion though, you should definitely go with your gut 😊 you're the one who will see it everyday, so it should be what you want it to be

They seem to be the same style. Flat panel smaller drawers and Shaker cabinets.

The only difference I see is that the drawer and cabinet fronts of the Lancaster are larger. I there a difference in construction? Are either soft close?

I like simple knobs on cabinets and simple pulls on drawers.

Aside from the cup pulls, they seem really similar in the photos. Unless the materials are different (eg, wood vs thermofoil), I don’t think there would be much added value to the house. I also dont like cup pulls, fwiw.

I cannot see much of a difference that would make the Lancaster more than double the price!!!! I’d go with the Concord. Door/drawer pulls are personal choice, so go with something you like. As far as adding value....unless you are planning to sell soon, I would put too much weight on that, because so often as we see on here, people want to replace perfectly fine cupboards because they’re not their style or are bit outdated.

Lancaster. Speaking from experience I would never do a cabinet other than flat fronts I didn’t pick that when I built and it is a chore to keep those ridges clean on the drawers.

@Mimi neither option have flat cupboard fronts, the both seem to have flat drawer-fronts. 🤷🏼‍♀️

If you prefer the Lancaster and it’s within budget, then they look nice. But I wouldn’t expect them to add value to the house. Are there differences in construction other than the amount of overlay?

I agree with Sasha. I would research how the Concord Is constructed. As mentioned by quite a few posters, they look very similar. For that reason, I would not go with the more expensive brand.

It is not always necessary to pay top dollar to get good qualit.

I’m going to assume that you have hardware choice for either. Your photos of the two absolutely look the same, but there HAS TO BE an important difference due to the pricing. I’m assuming one is thermofoil and the other is wood. That definitely will affect long term wear and tear so it would account for the prices. If they look good to you and the construction is the same, then do the Concord. But I’m skeptical. Check what the doors are made of.

I would never get thermofoil cabinets again. Agree that there must be a difference in cabinet construction. $4300 sounds suspiciously cheap for a houseful of cabinets. We looked at vanities a few years ago and one simple double vanity was 2 grand.

The links for both cabinets say they are paint grade.

I suspect the dollar amounts OP listed are the costs to upgrade from whatever is included/base to each of those selections.

Dig deeper into the site. Actual construction of the door is the same. Both are available in paint grade or maple. Lancaster is also available in cherry. Both have various upgrade options. However, the most significant difference is that Concord is a half overlay cabinet. Lancaster is semi overlay. Semi overlay will look more sleek than half overlay. Close ups also show Concord has more of a ridge effect in its design detail. As someone else said, it will be harder to keep those ridges clean.

Thank you everyone for your comments, this is very helpful! A couple of clarifications - we can choose the hardware separately (we are planning on white cabinets and black hardware). Also, those prices are the cost to upgrade from the base option, which is unpainted maple Concord. Also we can choose to make either one soft close separately. The main difference is the style- Concord has more ridges and less overlay

The amount of overlay is a huge difference. Obviously the more overly, the more materials you will need.

Can you get the Lancaster in unpainted maple with soft close? How much would that cost?

I put maple cabinets in a kitchen and they still looked good when we sold it 25 years later. Wood is having a comeback, too. You could always have them painted down the line.
