But are you far enough south for this tropical tree anyway? Because the vast majority of California is not.

I'm 30 miles east of Los Angeles. It is hot and dry- so I do not know if it will survive. The seedlings I purchased in the past survived indoors- and died after exposure to the outdoors- but they were about 12 inches. I would like to try planting a 1-5 gallon one and see how it goes.

A few months ago, I purchased some Mexican bird of paradise- they resemble the Flamboyan, but they died out in winter- I still have several one gallon and some are showing signs of new leaves.

It could be, I assumed that they love the sun, so I planted the seedlings in the south side of the house. Where have you seen a Delonix Regia in southern California?

San Diego Zoo has many. Just google the plant and "California" and many photos of them from Los Angeles to the border. Some bloom better than others,they all look like lusher Jacarandas in leaf.

Should be. If not,they are in Arizona's mildest areas like Phoenix commonly sold in nurseries at a good size..gallon to boxed.

I find them easy to grow from seed. It even grew three years in the bay area- no protection and then one spring,it never came out of dormancy. I gave it a shot.
