Dining Room Help Pretty Please

Hello,

Can you tell me what type style chairs would go with my dining room table? Also, any pictures of a room design would be great. I'm open to any colors. Thank you

Your table is that Tuscan style that has fallen out of favor. Are you sure you want to coordinate chairs with this style?

I would chose a style that moves away from tuscan so you could use them with other tables if you ever decide you want a different table. Some curves but not as ornate...

This table would look great with a concrete or wood top, paired with some transitional or modern chairs. I would also change the chandelier which will take this room in a completely direction:). Here are some chair options

It really depends on what kind of style you're wanting for the room as a whole. You could play with a few different things, like color and pattern to bring in a more modern feel and move away from the more traditional Tuscan. It's also a good time to make sure you're in love with the table before centering the design around it.

So many great chair options shared above. As others have asked, what type of dining room would YOU like? That table is plenty versatile.

    Absolutely love reading this, @User:

"People in Tuscany are known for their creative spirit, and also for saving things rather than buying new, so they would feel free to mix it up. They love things to look fantastic, but they are also a very practical people who like everyone to feel comfortable at the table, including kids,..."

I'm 68 years old and I'm just amazed at all the beautiful suggestions that I have been sent. Some made me smile, some made me cry and allot of them made me happy. Ital mover message really touch my heart. I'm so graceful for the many responses. I didn't show the chairs because I really was looking for something different. But I'm speechless. Everything is so beautiful. Great designers all of you all. This is a picture of the chair. Maybe I could fabric the chairs and work around it. I have had this dining room set since my son was born 46 years ago and it is a good one. Or maybe I could change table to something square to give new look. Who knows now! My many houzz designers have wowed me. Thank you all.

That table has lasted so long! Incredible. And it still hasn’t gone out of style.

As the set is heading for its golden anniversary, how about recovering the seat with a fabric that has gold in it?

I have decided after taking a step back and looking at my dining room table. I have decided to keep the set together and work with it. Many of you gave me bright ideas and information needed to make this decision. Now I ask one more request to help me decorate my room. I have a photo in it that gives me peace and I would like to work with the colors in it. But I'm having trouble deciding on how to decorate around it especially on the big wall behind table. If I put a table behind table unless really thin. It will be very crowded. Any advice would be appreciate! Thank you!

Depending on whether or not you drink wine, how much and whether that wall gets sun, a pair of short or tall wine racks — two columns — could work. You’d need to get the kind where one bottle lays sideways.

You can get the kind made out of wine barrel staves, which would be handsome with your dark floor and lend an old world touch — but be careful to measure because these curve out a bit from the wall

I happen to like this, but it means adding a slightly crazy modern touch to your Tuscan tranquility

If you don’t like that idea, you could also do 2 pedestals with plants. Just be sure you secure the plants and the pedestals firmly so no one knocks them over moving around the table. I think a pair of these would look nice

A floating wall shelf might be nice, but your artwork looks very long, and it might be difficult to find a floating shelf long enough. This one is 20”, and I’m not sure 2 would look right

Not sure what you would put on a shelf. If it were me, I’d probably put doilies on the shelf with small bowls and saucers filled with olives, salt, other condiments, with little silver spoons in them....

So the other thing you could do is get some carved corbels and then put a piece of glass or stone over them (get it secured) — then you can get the perfect size for under your framed work

You can get them short or long

If you put a shelf of glass or stone on corbels it might be nice to put some Tuscan ceramics with plants in them on the shelf, either in glazes or just plain terracotta would be nice in your space

`thanks — but I just realized I might have misinterpreted your request. I’ve been thinking you want to put something under your favorite artwork, but now I think you want something for the blank wall — is that right?

If so, how deep is that space In terms of comfort for you?

in the meantime, here are 2 other things I found that might look nice somewhere

Even though it is modern, I think this could actually look quite nice on the blank wall behind your table. The door you see actually slides, it doesn’t open out. It is 15.5 inches deep.

I would keep the chairs. They are great and worth keeping. They just need new upholstery. You can do that part yourself with a good staple gun. If you want to get wild, you could paint them. How about a high-gloss beachy, Florida color? I like turquoise. You could go updated classic with a navy blue.

Before I did that, you need an area rug for the room. It will set the tone for your update. It should coordinate with the colors of the picture that you want to hang. Once you have done that, you can select the fabric for the chairs, whether to paint them and decide on a wall color for the room. I think the first decision is the rug.

One place to find ideas and inspiration is to look on Realtor.com or Zillow.com at model homes and homes for sale. If you want to fuse Florida with Tuscan look in the over 55 homes developments in Florida. You will find a lot of fusion of both older furnishings with newer design ideas.

This might also work with your colors. It is only 15.5” deep. You wouldn’t be able to open the doors and drawers when your table is filled with guests, but you could use it as a serving buffet to some extent.

This also works as a foil for the trees in the art work and the old world feel of the dining set and chandelier. Plus you could open the side doors, and the rounded shape helps keep the traffic flow from feeling like an obstacle course.
