Consider varieties of full sun Bromeliads. Once planted they require little attention as long as it rains from time to time.

We have a lot of rocks in our front yard and they are wonderful! They do look much better sunk in a little so they look more natural instead of just plopped on the landscape. If you can get a few more of the same type you can make a good design putting your plants in front of them to create a nice combo.
