Is the TV staying in front of the brick wall? And if not, is there an actual fireplace behind it?

The tv will stay there yes. There is nothing behind the tv other than more brick unfortunately. Above the tv is a round pipe which probably led down to a wood stove. Upstairs we have a fireplace on the same wall.

That was my thought as well. Any suggestions for wall colour? I was thinking SW Alabaster. I’ll probably ditch the current tv stand for something wooden or lighter in colour.

Given the answers to the questions above, I totally agree it should be painted the same as the walls. As for colors, if the patterned chair is staying, maybe try to pull the lightest color out of the chair. It looks like it has an off white color in it.

It has a mixture of soft creamy yellow and grey but I’m not a fan of yellow walls so maybe I’ll stick to the off white. Thanks for our help!!!

Ah - totally agree about the yellow. Good luck with the off white - it’s really hard to find the right one. Make sure that one of the places you try samples is right above the couch (place them so that the bottom of the sample is below the top of the couch). The grey couch looks like it has a purple undertone and you’ll want to choose a color that doesn’t emphasize that :).
