Norwich sweetheart, sold by Burlington is an amazing mini with scent similar to Crimson glory. In cold Oct, I can smell its wafting scent 10 feet away. Plus it's thornless !!

Thanks! I don't see Norwich Sweetheart on Burling's current list, but I've emailed her about it. Sometimes she's able to propagate stuff that's not in her catalog. Unfortunately, HMF lists only one other source for NS, and the nursery doesn't have a website. I'll see what Burling says and if she can't propagate one then I'll give the other nursery a call. NS sounds like a really nice rose, I hope it doesn't disappear!

Not technically a mini, but a definitely small rose, say, 18"-24" tall, is 'Nigrette', the 'Louis XIV' of commerce. Very pretty, very fragrant, and surprisingly tough for such a puny-looking variety. I'm waiting for mine to recover from having been mowed down, twice, by the males who do the garden mowing around here.

'Sweet Chariot' should be the first on a short list of highly scented miniatures.

As for Carolyn Supinger....AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!! This upsets me so much and Paul I'm sure it's much worse for you.

Do any of the people who have CS in their private gardens ever make her available, at local rose sales or whatever? It seems such a tremendous shame to let this rose go extinct completely, which may happen if it isn't commercially available. UGH!

I propagate 'Carolyn Supinger' every year, but I don't have enough material to ever make more than 5 or 6 plants.

Constellation has a lovely fragrance but I’m not a mini person so I wouldn’t be able to compare with the others mentioned above.

Apricot Twist is a lovely healthy little mini with nonstop blooms and great fragrance.

The 'Louis XIV' of commerce was eventually identified as 'Nigrette': sorry I wasn't clear. They're the same rose, possibly offered under one name or the other.

Yes, based on your earlier post I realized there was some confusion about the 2 names...HMF does list them separately, with separate sources, although some of the HMF comments note the name confusion...so rather than try and figure it all out (which I most certainly am not qualified to do) I just went ahead and added both HMF entries to my wish list. I'm so glad to have seen her/them, I really love the color!

Mary Beth from Rogue Valley Roses smells surprisingly very good! She’s a very lovely mauve color also. She needs a warmer zone...my 5b was too cold for her.

Ooooo, a mystery rose, there's not even a picture on HMF! And it seems it is spelled 2 ways, Mary Beth and Marybeth. In any case, a strongly scented and entirely obscure mini - I love it! It's going on my list for the next RVR order!

Aunt Margy’s Rose is a polyantha with a strong old rose fragrance. I agree that Sweet Chariot is wonderful - a favorite of mine.

@slumgullion in southern OR I only got one bloom from her (received her late summer) but it was lovely. I wasn’t expecting the bloom to have fragrance but it did. I wish it would have been happier in my zone!

Although I don't find 'Apricot Twist' especially well-scented, it is certainly one of the best miniatures I have ever grown.

Fragrence or not, Apricot Twist looks good enough to eat, or just grow.

Dave, thanks for the suggestion of Aunt Margy's Rose - it looks too big (4') for the spot I have in mind, but I'll keep her in mind for another spot somewhere!

Another mini with a nice scent is Jean Kenneally. The deer got last year's blooms so I don't have good pictures of it, but I saw it at a nursery last weekend and was impressed with the fragrance for a mini, and it made me look forward to this year's growth. It's quite an upright shape so may or may not work for the location.

I just picked up Life’s Little Pleasures locally - very fragrant! Newer rose so not sure how healthy it will be.

Its hard to imagine that after twenty years, Harm Saville's lovely 'Scentsational' has practically vanished from commerce (Its listed as one of Burling's items). Its got one of the most intoxicating fragrances of any miniature. However, its got poor Blackspot resistance, so spraying

is pretty much mandatory.

Funny, Carol and I were just talking about this the other day. Despite its ridiculous name, I have been very impressed by 'Chick-a-dee' which I received from Burling last year. It has a fantastic scent, seems to have good disease resistance and a lovely romantic softness and fullness to the shape of the blooms - all qualities that are often missing from the mini's.
