Cut off any dead wood. Start cutting in chunks and stop when you hit green wood. (The leaves are a clue as to when that will be!) Then just let it be. Try to alleviate stress (its not yours) by ensuring that it has enough water. If the tree has enough strength it will try to 're-leader' itself by sending up vertical shoots. At that point you should seek advice about how to prune it so that it resumes a regular shape.
