Quickfire Fab hydrangea in Metro Detroit area

If anyone is looking for the new Quickfire Fab hydrangea and lives in the Metro Detroit area, they had five in stock this morning at Farmer John’s in Farmington Hills. :-)

Check to see how Fab does in the flopping department as some paniculatas tend to flop too. Compare the flopping tendency amongst the three.

Let us know how it does for you. I have not seen it locally but being new, that is not surprising. Do you have any other QFs cultivars to compare QF Fab against?

Yes, I have full size QF and also Little QF, so I’ll definitely be comparing growth rates and flowering time between the shrubs. I’ll make sure to report back when they start flowering!

The new one may have a flowering time that is "off" from normal flowering times on year 1 but see what it does anyways.

According to this webpage, About Quick Fire Fab, it is "the earliest blooming H. paniculata", and it will probably grow just as large as standard Quick Fire.

I‘m pretty excited about it! If Fab lives up to hype, I might replace some of my Incrediballs with it, We’ll see!

I bought one last year from HD online. It was delivered two days later and I planted it in the ground just a few weeks ago. I saw one bloom head on it so far and it is less than 3 feet tall now. I ordered two hydrangeas from them to get free shipping (not necessarily two plants but to meet their monetary cutoff for free shipping).

The smaller box was a mac which is what I wanted while the bigger box was the Quickfire 'Fab' (I thought I had ordered something else but when this showed up, I guess I picked the wrong button to add to the cart.)

This is what I went for to begin with - Tuff Stuff 'Ah-Ha'. The plant fell out of the pot when I tried to pull it out of the box. This one is in a bigger pot and will remain there for this year at least.

Indeed, those are beautiful! I ordered directly from proven winners last fall, and while I was extremely happy with Quickfire Fab (it was big and lush), one of the Firelight Tidbits was very small and disappointing. Their customer service was top-notch, though, and refunded my money. I believe the plants ordered from Home Depot are sent from Proven Winners, but I could be wrong.

The Fab was a Proven Winners plant but the Ah-ha was from Springhill or something like that.

Never mind the last comment as I see Ah-Ha is a PW plant as well. Maybe it was others on their website last year that were from different vendors if I recall correctly.
