This June has some funky looking leaves every year. I think it makes her look more interesting.

... Should I try to determine if they are coming from one eye?

If they are all blue and coming from one eye, the eye has reverted to Halcyon. If you don’t have Halcyon and would like to, then you could remove the eye and have another. Back in the early days of hosta creation ,Halcyon was the first blue. And it has been used in the parentage of many hostas and has also had many sports. Check it out in the database of the HL. There’s a post I made maybe a month or so ago about how the creation of Halcyon came about. Interesting.

I’ll check out the article. I have 2 Halcyon and love them. 1 in pretty deep shade and 1 in long morning sun. They both do great!

Every year it's like a treasure hunt looking for the half & half leaves. I always get at least one that's well defined with a clean line, and year to year, it's never on the same hosta.

Sports are fun to find, but I don't take them seriously (as to split off) unless they come back two or three years in a row. ......any more pics Pieter?

Here we have 'Frosted Dimples', gift from my friend Donna who knows I have a habit of looking for sporting plants and she noticed it @ a local nursery and she picked this one over the next one simply because it showed signs of sporting, bless her.

I spotted a solid-coloured leaf on my 'Sleeping Beauty', haven't figures out yet of it's just one leaf on this shoot or if there are more. It'll be interesting to see what it'll colour up like. Doesn't look as if there is a named solid sport off this variety but if it goes all-cream as the season goes one it likely won't survive as a division, which certainly won't happen until next year earliest.

'Princess of Karafuto' has one shoot where a couple of leaves are all-white; no point in doing anything other than to see what happens to that area of the plant next year, have to be sure to mark it's location in the pot.

And one of my 'Lemon Frost' is showing wider margins...
