Tile choice regrets! Need HELP ASAP

last modified: 5 years ago

I'm doing a bathroom remodel. the room is 9 x 10 and I was hoping for my forever bathroom, a calm spa like tone on tone in warm white, cream, beige. ( I know grey is the HOT thing but my house is warm tones of creams, green's, blues). My husband and I fell in love with the arctic white marble (smaller tile in photo-tap on photo to see more of it ) and plan to use it in the shower and tub area. We struggled to find a non-marble floor tile (tying to keep cost down) to go with it and liked this porcelain tile (larger tile) . The tub, toilet, sinks will be white. The vanity top is not yet chosen but was leaning toward a white quarts with some beige veining for contrast. Can anyone tell me what color vanity to put with this or how to make it not feel dated. I've seen some beautiful cream/beige marble bathrooms on Houzz just can't find the material to recreate it. Would be open to a different floor tile.

Your tile choices look pretty to me. If it were my space, I would do a wood vanity.

I am also partial to warmer whites for tiles and avoid grays. I would use a dark wood cabinet that looks almost black, with clean lines and hardware, modern plumbing fixtures in a warm tone like nickel or a soft gold.

Pic below is not my own bathroom

    what about something like this?

I don't think you can use those large tiles on the floor of the shower. They will be too slick and will not form to the slope needed. You should select a smaller tile so you have lots of seams and grout to give good footing.

I would not put two or more veined products in the same room. Either use the same ones or select something that complements without the veining.

Before installing marble in your shower, be sure to search these forums for problems and regrets people have with using marble in a shower. Difficult to clean, both hair and cleaning products can cause staining and etching.

Could you post some pics of bathrooms you like that you are trying to recreate?

The Mable will be shower walls, with the same marble in small squares on the shower floor. The Porcelain is on the bathroom floor.

Consider a sage or grey colored vanity.

Myricrachitect- thank you for the picture, love the feel of the room.

flopyscat1 & Olychick -thank you for your thoughts on too much veining, I'll look for a counter top that's more subtle. I'll try to post some photo's of inspiration bathrooms, but it's really the overall calm feeling and parts of many photos.

Show all your tile selections together in one photograph- unless I’m mistaken the first photograph only has one tile. Some of your inspiration photos would help as well

Tap on photo to see all of it. This is a photo from earlier this week when searching for counter tops. The beige tile (lower center) next to the sample white cabinet door is the floor tile, above the sample door is the counter top sugestion from show room (just happens to be on a large island there) the small rectangular tile (top right half is the Mable "arctic white" tile selected for the shower. If you tap on the photo of my original post you'll see the full photo. My bthroom has a large north facing sky light. So Grey tends to wash out and look sad. Thank you all for your input! I really really appreciate it!
