Master Bath Switcheroo?

We would like to update our master bath (currently a mix of late 1960s and 90s, LOL) and I'm hoping I can get help with a few basic questions before we get carried away with planning. Currently, the bathroom is laid out as shown in the diagram below, but we would really like to move the shower to the far end of the room, using the current drainage and water location (aside from hot water) of the toilet. Instead of an insert, we want a tiled walk-in shower with a small bench. We would then move the toilet to the shower spot to utilize the water and drainage there. Would it be that simple or is there more to consider? Do we need a bathroom designer? I'm having a hard time finding someone who services our small town in SE Minnesota; the nearest is about 45 mins away, but we want to get this right first time around. Ideally, the updated bath would have new flooring, paint, ceiling texture, and tile. Budget would hopefully be under $15K.

We have a tub in another bath, so we don't feel the need for one here. We would like to get rid of the door from the master bedroom that's currently across from the toilet and just use the main hall entrance (we think - there is a small office alcove on the other side of the current shower/tub wall that could be sacrificed for more space if needed, but I assume enlarging the footprint would be quite a bit more $$). We also would like to get a smaller, more appropriately-sized vanity, we don't use the majority of the counter or storage space and the current setup makes the room seem claustrophobic.

The other side of the wall from the showerhead and faucet is a small hall closet, again this could be sacrificed if needed, there is another large closet nearby that gives us adequate storage space. Directly under this bath is a second basement bath with a plank-type ceiling. Window can stay or go.
