It's a nice room. Is that pink carpet, or pink paper over the floor?

If it were me, I'd probably choose the lightest gray in the fireplace and paint the entire room that color, including the woodwork and area on either side of the fireplace. I might paint the shelves the same white as the molding on the ceiilng so they pop a bit more. Not sure if I'd paint the boxes next to the fireplace the same gray as the walls, or white if you did the shelves white. This would be a nice complement to the kitchen.

Thanks for the advice. The floors are actually a wood tile in a medium brown. Any recommendations on grays or greige? There are so many I'm lost!

I like wedgewood blue, but agree that keeping color around the fireplace simple would help it to stand out.

Hi...I agree with motownmom, and think BM Stonington Gray would be a great color with the white shelves,
the cabinets should be gray, with Blanca marble for the countertop. Fabulous hardware and your set.
