Plantings take years to develop, everything requires some attention regardless of foliage retention characteristics. Whereas a solid wood fence would eliminate the view as soon as it was built. And would occupy very little horizontal space.

That was not helpful - we added green giants 18 years ago along the back of our property and they only required watering the first year. They are gorgeous! I do not want or like fences. I was asking about plants not hardscaping. We live an a very rural area and plants that are allowed to naturally grow are what I am looking for.

You will probably want to consider broadleaved evergreen shrubs......laurel, wax myrtle, hollies, possibly aucuba, etc. But they will take some time to grow to a size that will afford the screening you need/want. The only immediate or even very fast screening does come from hardscaping, not plants.

Width will also be a factor. Shrubs that grow tall most often tend to grow wide as well so some trimming or pruning is almost inevitable. And you will need to be realistic about height. 20-25' is asking a lot of most shrubs!

You show two pictures of your view....... I can barely see what looks like a white backboard in the second picture.......anyway, if you don’t want fence but need something now, have you considered planter boxes that have upright trellises connected to them? You could essentially “create” a wall with them and add beauty with flowers and vines. You can find them in many places but I know they have them at gardenerssupply.com Good luck!

That’s what I was thinking, too, except trellises in the ground with vines growing. They could be spaced far enough apart to have some shrubs between ... would provide a fair amount of privacy while the shrubs grow. And would look natural.

Examples of structures, but again there’d be separate ones spaced farther apart.

You can also look at putting shrubs in a line on your side of the shed, closer to the pool rather than right on the property line. This would allow full sun and give opportunity for more selections (and denser), and would not have to be as high (5'-6' to block views) so you can purchase 5'-6' specimens right away. Though I suppose you'll say this is not a helpful idea.

The fence as suggested by others can be temporary.
