I don't have May Night but I have Salvia Rose Queen and the purple one, I forget the name. I get a long period of bloom when I deadhead and after it's finished blooming, I give it a good haircut and it produces nice clean foliage that stays neat until frost. At least I think that's what I remember happens with mine. [g] I'll have to make sure to notice this year.

Not yet, but probably in a couple weeks. Forget-me-nots are nice plants with beautiful blue blooms, but the aftermath - ugh. Very ugly brown to black mess. I have mixed feelings every season after they bloom. Do I pull or leave be? I can also cut the dead foliage off if I don't get impatient.

I haven’t ditched anything yet, but the gaillardia that I planted last year sure ditched me! They were little bloom machines all through last summer and into fall, but didn’t return for me this spring. I was going to replace them with the same, but decided against it….too many other perennials to try!

May Night is a spring once bloomer (with subsequent ratty foliage) in my yard. At the grocery store a quarter mile away where it is planted in the parking lot hell strips , it reblooms in late summer. This frustrates me to no end. But I keep mine because the color is gorgeous for three weeks each May.
