Entry Door Dilemma

Our house was built in 1898. I have a beautiful door that is original to the house that went into a MIL suite. We have since removed that doorway and put in a window. I would like to use that door on my front entry. The only problem is it will go in with the decorative side facing inside my house. I'm afraid if we try to turn it (moving the knob and hinges) which would mean moving trim and repositioning will ruin the door. Do I just abandon the plan or have the decorative side facing in?? Please help.

What is the door like? Is the entryway covered? I ask because it might be better to move it to, say, the master suite than to have it ruined by the sun or weather it wasn't meant for...

Can you not just change the door casing/frame to receive the door so that it can swing the other way? Or would that be a problem in the interior?

It is an exterior door and Under a covered porch so weather wouldn’t be an issue. It’s also half glass so not good for a bedroom door. It fits and is the correct size. Just worried that turning the door around, changing the knob and hinges to the other side, moving trim around will cause damage to the door. Thinking I should just buy a new door and find something else to do with this one.

Yeah, seeing the door would help, but it might be a good idea to do something else with it.

Making that hinge and framing change is not easy DIY. Could you repurpose for a barn door for perhaps a pantry door? That is a great use for interesting antique door. Here are some ideas. A photo of this door would be great.
