Rugosa rose with yellowing foliage

Hello everyone. I planted several Purple Pavement roses approximately a month ago and one them has increasing yellow foliage, that is yellow leaves with green veins. Drainage appears good, although I have not dug up the plant to check for problems deeper down. So, I am thinking that it is a ph problem, soil ranges from 7 to 7.3 in the area, and our water is alkaline as well. I am in Chisago County, MN, on the St. Croix River. Is it safe to use sulphur or aluminum sulfate on such a newly planted rose? The plant was a five gallon, so not a baby. I have tried one dose of liquid iron with no improvement. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

i wouldnt expect to see the affects of a pH problem inside of one months of transplanting ...

and you already tried one remedy within the first month ... and i dont know how fast you expect that to work ...

and now you want to apply more remedies ...

what about just giving it time to settle down from the original transplant before you do more???

also... i wouldnt expect 1 of 3.. to show a pH problem.. making me think something was going on with the plant in the pot.. before you ever got it ... was it fully leafed out when you bought it ... could there have been a cold event at a MN nursery in april ... what are the odds there werent.. lol ...

if it were me.. i would just leave it be.. water properly.. and when i was sure of it being over transplant shock.. i would fertilize it ...

i might also talk to the nursery guy and mention 1 out of 3 had an issue..a dn see if he fesses up to some issue ... and if bigbox.. oh well ... the nail/carpet/appliance guy probably wont know what happened on the truck that brought it from god knows where ...

Thanks, Ken. You are probably right in your assessment. These were actually planted by a local nursery where they were greenhouse grown. One plant was immediately replaced after planting and this one is guaranteed. So, I will cool my jets and see what happens. We have a freeze warning for tomorrow night. Thanks again for responding. I am a recent zone 6 transplant, so this is a new experience.
