Was this tree outside? Did you water it more often that week? Why did you spray with neem oil? Is the tree in full sun all day or does it get some shade?

That soil mix looks very unsatisfactory for a citrus tree...Unhappy roots that can't breath or are watered incorrectly are usually the culprits.

Also seems to be a very large container. Couple that with a very heavy medium and you have certain root rot.

The roots were coming out of the pot it was in. which is why I moved it to a larger container. It was super happy when I did that in March. Lots of buds and leaves plus new growth. I checked the root ball and it is not root rot. It’s a citrus soil is there a better mix you like? This tree has been outside and has never been an indoor tree.

i sprayed with neem because the twigs started going brown and it was not root rot. I did see cobweb s and black spots on the leaves too. Mostly it gets full Sun from about 10-6 or so.

If the tree was in full sun in 90 degrees for several days without water, I think it might have gotten a bit too dry, and possibly scorched. Especially outdoors, you're going to have a lot of evaporation as the soil heats up, and in a pot, the roots are going to heat as well.

I feel like that makes sense considering I didn’t water it more than usual. So if the tree is potentially scorched, is there hope? Or is it dying?

It's dying...usually if the roots suffer like that and if it comes back it can take months to years for recovery.

If it were my tree, I would use a porous mix, re pot and water in well. Stick it in shade for a couple of weeks and cut off all the dead wood. Then part sun and see what happens along with fertilizer a weak solution. It might have a chance with the life in the branches left and in this nice weather. Use rain water to water if you can too.

Mike, I agree. I would probably add that when I did the repot I would look for any dead roots and remove them. Then just water it, and give it some time and wait and see. It might come back, it might not.

Sadness thank you for the help. I will try and see if I can move the tree itself somewhere more shady. I feel so bad :( I just repotted a week ago with new citrus mix but it kept going brown. I didn’t see any root rot if anything it looked dry. I did not water a bunch so I will go ahead and water thoroughly ugh I feel so silly.

Silly? Nothing to feel bad about. We have all been there. I could start a new thread of all the mistakes me made and it would probably gets hundreds of responses. That's how we learn) Keep us posted, ok?
